thank you, thank you, A/C now has remote function again...

This is the JP1 beginners forum. There's no such thing as a stupid question in here, so post away, but this forum is just for JP1 users and people considering JP1, non-JP1 users please use the appropriate forum above!

I'd never heard of JP1 remotes until someone posted the info on a satellite stb h/w forum I read. I bought a 6131 with header and 2k EEPROM off of eBay, loaded the info provided from the stb forum and VOILA I eliminated 1 remote off the table. Plus I could store away the original, 'cause they're very expensive to replace.

With confidence in hand I decided to deal with the remote I lost at the end of last summer for my Daewoo window A/C. Unfortunately two all important functions Timer Start/Stop and Sleep mode are only available via the remote.

Searching through the forum archives whilst there was mention of other A/C's nothing on a Daewoo. So I found a good deal on an 8910 learning remote, again from eBay, and proceeded to learn from the missing remote. Oops, you notice the word missing, arrgh, no remote and no way to learn it because the remote was discontinued through regular parts channels. Then last week Costco has another stack of the exact same Daewoo A/C. Soon there is a nice new A/C sitting box sitting in my living room. Reading, and re-reading, and re-reading, and finally re-reading I figure out how to learn the Daewoo remote and program the 6131. It took two tries, 'cause the first time I forgot to add the new code I created to the AUD device button.

So, I know it was long winded, but I REALLY wanted to express my gratitude to the people who figured the JP1 out, created the webpage and forum. Thanks also for the forum users, I read a LOT of old posts before I proceeded. My next project is to add a 6pin header and 2K EEPROM to another 6131.

...and having learned and decoded the remote control codes for the A/C, you then returned the "new" A/C for a full refund, since you could now operate the old one, right?

I hope you're going to make things easier for the next JP1 user with a Daewoo A/C by posting the upgrade (.txt file saved from KM or .rmdu file saved from RM) in the folder with other A/C upgrades:

Actually, I'm going to keep the extra A/C. I have an old house in the southwest with a swamp cooler, they work great in the dry months, but are pretty worthless from Mid-July -> August. The one I bought last year paid for itself within 3 months, I haven't even setup the swamp cooler this year.

Yep, here is the link to the Daewoo A/C file https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=3229 . Did I do it correctly?
