Turn PC into a remote via JP1 and UCR-6800?
I have the need to control IR devices (antenna rotor, VCR) in a 'lights out' environment. Is it possible to cause the remote to send IR codes by sending an ASCII sequence to the remote via the JP1 port? If this is possible and I knew the protocol/syntax then I could use VB6 to create a GUI to remotly control the remote. I've been searching the forum and find conflicting answers. I have a URC-7200, URC-6012, URC-6800.

It is NOT possible to "activate" the remote by sending any type of signal via the JP1 connector. Period.
The ONLY thing the JP1 connector allows you to access is the EEPROM - and read to and write from it.
Sorry.
