Problem with downloaded RMDU with only one button. urc-8910

Post by CrAzYodaz »

first of all........... DANG THIS JP1 STUFF is cool!!!!

just bought a 8910 and paralell cable and spent hours in frustation but i think thats cause i am a NEWBIE and new to this.... but i am getting the hang of it.. sorta.

my problem is this..

after owning a 6131 -- AF0 wanted me to send it in to upgrade it... so nice for the PVR the 6131 is -- i chose not to send and return it and get the 8910.

long story short... after playing with Remote master abit... and downloaded from this site -- Hughes TIVO SD-DVR40.rmdu

off and on playing i finally got everything to work -- "BUY NOT MESSING" with it -- prolly a newbie error

so after playing i went back to the original downloaded rmdu file -- all i did was change to 8910 code wich is NOT 1117 but 1142 for this 8910 --

so now everything works --- perfectly!!! --- whoever wrote that rmdu file did a good job and WOW.. is all i got to say.

anyways

my "SELECT" button does not work right -- the RMDU file has it as HEX=0F -- EFC=058

again the RMDU download saved me time after realizing to leave it allone -- the writer of that RMDU file save me time....

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

to sum up my simple question that turned into a RAMBLING of complements

does somebody have a different HEX and EFC codes maybe from the 6131 remote that might work in my case?? -- just looking for the HEX and EFC

EVERYTHING ELSE IN THIS RMDU FILE -- WORKS PERFECT!!!!!

just that dang SELECT button

thanks in advance for any help / ideas
Mike

P.S.
dang this JP1 stuff is neat.... well worth the extra $$
the 6131 costed me $10 without jp1 @ walmart -- took that back -- $35 shipped for 8910 with jp1 with cable on ebay.
well worth it -- allot more functions than just entering codes

When I load the Hughes TIVO SD-DVR40 (you should always provide links to any files you mention in a post) in RM, and change the remote to URC-8910, I see hex code 67 (EFC 249) assigned to the Select button. Hex code 0F (EFC 058) is the Menu command, assigned to the Menu button.

You've done something wrong in the process of using that file with your 8910.

The steps for taking an existing upgrade file and using it with a different remote are very simple:
  1. Use File -> Open to load the file into RM
  2. Select the remote you are trying to program in the Remote: drop-down box
  3. Review the function to button assignments using the Buttons, Layout, or Key Map tabs. You may choose to change some of those assignments.
  4. Switch to the Output tab and copy the Device Upgrage Code (and Protocol Upgrade Code if needed) to IR.
  5. Make sure you've assigned the setup code you just copied into IR to the correct button on IR's General tab
