Comcast URC-1057BG1 JP1.2

My parents got a new Comcast HD cable box and it has a remote that didn't work with IR.exe - I got the message saying that I should check to make sure the interface is plugged in. And my computer and JP1 interface work just fine with my 8811. Uh-oh....

I've been doing some digging in the forums here and haven't found any good news. I found some posts from last year about a "JP1.1" connector on a 1057BG0 and how there was no tool to work with it yet. The battery compartment inside my parents' remote has a sticker that reads "URC-1057BG1" and the connector is labeled "JP1.2".

I think I know the answer, but it's probably worth asking anyway - is there any way to communicate with this remote yet? Hopefully, somebody has found a way to talk to a 1057BG1 through a "JP1.2" connector!?

(BTW, the reason for the effort is that despite the fact that the remote successfully works with the TV and DVD player through normal [non-JP1] setup methods, there are a few things that need to be made more clean. In particular, both the original Toshiba TV remote and the Comcast 1057 remote can only cycle through the 7 TV inputs and when changing from DVD to TV, cycling through all 7 is an error prone process and is definitely outside my parents' comfort zone! And there are three buttons on the Comcast 1057 remote, labeled "A", "B", and "C", that would be perfect for firing off discrete TV inputs!)

Not yet... and possibly never if this is the remote with the old-style "new" flash chip.

I'm guessing that if it says "JP1.2" it uses the new Motorola HSC08 flash chip, which is the new UEI standard, but even so, to date nobody has even started looking at how we might be able to hack this new chip.

I don't imagine that any of the old time experts are going to bother digging into it, so it will probably have to wait until some future expert-to-be gets one of these remotes and decides to take on the challenge of figuring it out.

Rob, sorry, no, I'm not an expert-to-be. I wish I were. But hardware just isn't my thing - no aptitude whatsoever. I had thought about offering to send the remote to someone who was interested in hacking it, but I don't think my parents would appreciate that.

I have been slugging through putting together some upgrade files for the devices I have. Although I can't be of any use on the hardware front, at least I'll be able to give something back to the JP1 community.
