help with new newbie!

Post by gtv »

I just started adding unsupported keycodes to my RS 15-2117 remote and have been successful adding a samsung sat reciever and panasonic dvd player. I have a Denon AVR-3803 reciever and when I try adding the Denon 3803 file to keymaster and importing it to IR program, everything looks fine, but for some reason when it is in the remote, none of the keys function, such as the power button. Any ideas I should try to figure out why it does not work? Thanks for the help!

Did you change the remote to the 15-2117 on the Setup sheet before copying the code over to IR?

Yes, I changed the remote to 15-2117, and changed the spreadsheet to use OBCs instead of EFCs. Still no go? Thanks for the suggestions.

gtv, if you browse thru the Beginners section of the forum you;ll find many posts like yours which basically say "what did I do wrong" and in each case we explain to the poster that we could spend hours trying to guess what step was missed (and you see Mark has started that process) or we could spend seconds figuring it out just by looking at your files, as newbie mistakes are usually pretty easy to spot.

So, please zip together your KM/RM and IR files and post them in the Diagnosis Area, then post a link to the files for us. PLEASE read the sticky post first that explains how to post links to Yahoo files.

What Rob said! ;)

If you open an existing file in KM, you CANNOT change the Button Codes field on the Setup sheet from EFC to OBC. Since the upgrade was likely created by entering EFC's, selecting OBC on the Setup sheet will corrupt the generated data, because KM will now think that the EFC's are OBC's. If you must change an exisiting file from one style to the other, the proper way to do it is with the [Swap] button on the Functions sheet.

If this is in fact what you did, that would help explain (at least partially) why the upgrade didn't work.
