Forgive my ignorance on the whole jp1 issue, but I am fairly clueless. Hope you can help.
Have been lurking on JP1 boards/websites many times before. Posses two jp1able units the 15-1994 and the URC9800. Have never tried to jp1 them, though.
Now I have an issue where I think I may need to access this feature. I have a DirecTivo unit. I Like the Tivo remote just fine. The problem is I just bought a Sceptre LCD tv (with a crappy remote). The Tivo remote can't control the volume on this TV.
I've been eyeing the URC6131. Would it be possible to program this unit, via JP1, or other manner to control the volume on my tv and also operate the DirecTivo. If there is a way, I'd be interesting in purchasing a couple
Thanks for the assistance.

If your 15-1994 or URC-9800 can learn the volume controls from the Sceptre remote, and successfully control the volume on the TV, then the URC-6131 will be able to control the TV. We already know that the URC-6131 can control the DirecTiVo (you don't even need the JP1 enhancements for that, just use setup code SAT/1142 for Non-Sonys, or SAT/0639 for Sonys)

Keep in mind also that in order to program a URC-6131 with JP1, you will need a modified remote. The remotes you find in stores are not JP1 ready.
Btw, I have no idea why you posted this in a Market place thread, so I moved it to the Beginners area.
