Two Device Codes
I know I have read the answer to this but cant find it now. I have a 6131 modified that I got from Rob. All is well except for my Denon Amp. None of the setup codes worked so I learned the codes for it. All is well except some of the functions dont work. They are listed as device 12 and I have set this up as a device 2 which applies to most of the codes. I used the ignorance is bliss approach and just went ahead and entered the EFCs, no good. Like I said, I am quite sure I have read about this somewhere. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks - Great remote from Rob and great site.

These are obviously Denon codes (used by a Denon amp). The mix of device 2 and device 12 have been around forever. In the old days people would use keymoves from Audio/0004 and Audio/0160 to program their Denons, now there are official combo codes.
Dave, have you looked in the Audio folder to see what Denon upgrades are available? I think you'll find quite a few that use the Denon Combo protocol, which should suit your needs.
Here's a tip though. Open up one of these files in KM, then use the SWAP button to switch the codes to OBC mode (if they're not already), then go back to the Setup sheet and change the protocol to Denon Combo (Official). That will mean you no longer need a protocol upgrade.

Thanks for the help. I have been gone all week but finally got a chance to try further. The codes in the Audio Folder were not exactly right so that is why I learned them, but I overlooked the two device codes used there and how it was done. I now have exactly what I want working. I was not able to get the official combo code to work but the hacked code works.
I tried switching from EFC to OBC as you suggested Rob but still did not work with the official. I cant see where swapping them actually changes anything other then spreadsheet position. The upgrade code remains the same? Any way I have what I want and now would just like to satisfy my curiousity as to why I could not get it working as you said. Thanks again for the help.

In an upgrade that is already set up, switching EFC to OBC does do just what you said.Dave Sampson wrote: I tried switching from EFC to OBC as you suggested Rob but still did not work with the official. Rob was suggesting that you switch EFC to OBC before changing the protocol selected on the setup sheet.
IIUC, KM attempts to preserve the contents of the functions sheet when you switch protocols and the way it preserves those contents depends on whether it is set up for EFC or OBC. I assume that preserving function data when switching between versions of Denon can be done correctly with OBCs, but not with EFCs.
I don't know why your attempt to use the official combo failed. Maybe you should post the two relevant files in the diagnosis folder (the .txt file saved by KM's SAVE button after you finished building the upgrade, and the .txt file saved by IR's file/save command after you installed the upgrade, matching what you uploaded to the remote to test).
