Directv Universal Remote

I have a blue Directv Universal remote, built by Terk, Terk model no. DTVR. This remote is JP1 capable, and is built to UEI Technology specs. I have downloaded from the remote, using IR.exe, and the remote type downloaded is Direct TV.

I was hoping to use this remote to learn JP1 so I wouldn't mess up my 2117, but I can't find it listed under the remotes of Keymap Master.

Am I out of luck, or is there some way of using Keymap Master with this remote?

Well, since there is an RDF for it, you might try using RM instead of KM.

It probably won't work, since that RDF is a very preliminary one, and has much wrong with it. The real RDF (which I'm still building) will choke RM on all the >$80 unnamed buttons in the keymaps (and there are many--more than half of the keymap entries).

We have seen two different DTV remotes so far, and I'm not sure if the one you have matches either type. Could you put a copy of an IR saved file of a remote download in the diagnostics area so we can tell if yours matches either of the two type we know about?

The DTV blue remote was made in China

I posted the saved IR file in JP1 Diagnostic area in Yahoo Groups under the filename "BLUE.TXT"

I have just put two RDF files in the Yahoo files area for the two versions of the DirecTV remotes. Your information matches the "Version 2" RDF, so IR should pick that one if you remove the existing RDF that begins with "DTV1 (...".

RDF for DirecTV Version 1 (Made in Korea)
RDF for DirecTV Version 2 (Made in China)

Side-note to Nils:
These seem to work OK in RM (I'm learning !), but it's not removing the quotes from button names that are quoted like IR does. Also, all the shifted buttons in the keymap have both bits 6 & 7 set, and I'm not sure if it is valid or not to have either bit set alone. You should probably consider these to be beta versions.

Does this really have an x-shift, or is it just that the Shift mask is $C0 rather than the usual $80?

I'm not sure. Rob has these remotes, and he'd need to see if a normal shift and/or xshift works or not. All I know for sure at the moment is that the keymap entries have both bits set. The enter key is labelled "enter/alt audio", so I suspect this may be an xshift button. (But maybe it only works shifted?)

Since KM doesn't use the RDFs, you'll have to wait until there's a new release with support for these remotes.

However, RM does most of what KM does, and does use the RDFs. So, if you can get a good RDF, you can use the current RM to build upgrades, as long as you don't need to use any of the protocols that RM doesn't yet support (Device Combiner, RC-5/5x Combo, and RCA Combo (w/Duration))

Hi. I was considering one of these remotes for my grandparents, but do you know if it supports macros on the device buttons? Thanks.

With the exception of the 15-2116/2117 and the URC-8910/9910, you can only program macros to the device buttons if you use an extender, and there aren't any extenders available for either of the DirecTV remotes. And just to clear up any confusion caused by joec1936's post, both the Chinese and Korean versions of this remote are blue.
