First of all,the URC-8910 is my first universal remote. Second, I am often confused by my computer. That is the reason I did not order the JP1 cable with the URC-8910 from BlueDo.
Now, my question is, would someone on this forum help me program the 8910( if I were to get the JP1 cable ). What I have in mind is using the "REMOTE ASSISTANCE" feature in windows XP. As I understand it, someone with my permission can view my screen and move their mouse and do programming I am to dumb to do myself.
Does anyone think this could work??
Or have a better idea??
Bill

As I replied to your post at RemoteCentral, if you're smart enough to setup that feature (which I'm not sure will do what you want it to) in Windows, you're probably smart enough to use JP1!bill731 wrote:What I have in mind is using the "REMOTE ASSISTANCE" feature in windows XP. I too am a very GREEN newbie to this jp1 stuff. I don't know if this will help you at all, but it sure helped me. Here's the tip: Print out the jp1 Beginners Guide in the sticky at the top of this forum. I read it several times online, but it didn't really sink in until I printed it out. I know this seems like a small thing, but just give it a try I think it will help.

Bill, judging purely from the limited info in your post, it sounds like you haven't even tried doing this for yourself. I'm guessing most of the other experts will make the same assumption.
It's impossible to help someone do something that they haven't even attempted to do for themselves, so I doubt you're going to find any takers here.
Now, if you were to actually read the Beginners document and try to use the tools but where to get stuck, then you should post back explaining WHY you got stuck and we'll help you. But if you don't at least try to make your own way through it, you're unlikely to get any help.
Remember, over 15,000 people have been able to figure this out all by themselves or with some help from us, so it can't be THAT difficult.
