RMIR v2.01 - Unable to save "General Notes"

Post by bobj »

I am unable to save any "General Notes".

I have tried both v2.01 and v2.02 Alpha 3 on a Linux ubuntu 10.10 platform.

Info from the "About Java IR" panel...

Code: Select all

RemoteMaster v2.02 Alpha 3

When I try to create a new URC-10820N rmir file from scratch and add some "General Notes" ...

Code: Select all

Try Line 1
Try Line 2

Try Line 4
and save it, the first few lines of the saved .rmir file are...

Code: Select all

[General]
Remote.name=URC-10820N
Remote.signature=11781178
Notes=

[Buffer]
EC00=31 31 37 38 31 31 37 38 4E B1 00 00 10 00 20 00
EC10=30 00 40 00 50 00 50 00 50 00 50 00 50 00 00 00
What am I missing here?

I'm using an older version of RMIR. I opened an existing IR file in RMIR and the notes were there. I saved it as an RMIR file and the notes saved. I changed the notes and the new changes were not saved.
So apparently this problem has been around a while.

However, may I just comment that starting an image from scratch is never a good practice. You should always start from a download from your remote.
Remember to provide feedback to let us know how the problem was solved and share your upgrades.

Tip: When creating an upgrade, always include ALL functions from the oem remote, even if you never plan on assigning them to a button. Complete function lists makes an upgrade more helpful to others.

RMIR v2.01 - Unable to save "General Notes"

This is great news for me. I was worried that it might be something to do with my Linux install. Sounds like that there may be hope for a fix. Is there something I need to do to request a fix?

I only did this from scratch to test the saving of "General Notes". I have programed remotes with IR and RM on a Win XP system. I have moved away from Win XP and now am trying to use RMIR on a Ubuntu 10.10 (Linux) system.

I had to hack a bit at the rmir.sh and rmaster.sh after installing RMIR. Got them working with the Nautilus GUI file manager so that I can click on the .rmir or .rmdu file to open RMIR using them.

Your best bet is to send Greg (gfb107) a message asking him to look at this thread. This is Greg's baby. Graham (mathdon) has also done a lot of work on this but he's on holiday.
