New ComcastRemote 1167
I was able to get the new Motorola 3400 Cable Box which has a new remote, 1167 (as opposed to long used 1067). FORTUNATELY, it appears the 3400 Cable box is programmed to work with either the old or new remotes so OK for now. I can download the code from the remote to IR (JP1.2). I tried my key moves, devices, macros, etc on the new remote and they do not work. I suspect it has a new protocol. I see from the mfg lit that all the standard codes for devices are different than the 1067. The new ones are mostly in the 2000's. I have never seen this before.
With the 3400 Cable Box there will be many new functions not available yet, but coming (network, streaming, downloads, etc). Hence, I suspect , the new remote.
The new remote is physically identical to the old but a dark gray color.
Anyone using it, seen or working on RDF?

There are two separate questions here:
1) Is the new remote really different? In other words, when you download from it using IR.exe, does IR recognize it? If it does, it's not really a new remote, it's just the old remote re-labeled.
2) What does the new upgrade look like?
We can answer all of these questions if you post the downloaded IR file from the new remote, preferably without any keymoves or other modifications that you might have done.

If you are using one of the newer IR vesions, if you go to the RawData page you'll see the signature and the processor listed.
I've seen the short 1067's that were really still our old JP1.2 remotes as well as the JP1.1. I haven't seen any JP1.3 versions yet.
So ARE you able to downlaod this remote? Or are you creating manual keymoves because you can't read this remote? I have lots of ideas as to what is going on. But we'll need some information from you.

Thanks everyone for replying. Here is what I have found with more detail.
Yes, I was able to download the 1167 to IR. But none of the key moves I have in the 1067 remote work. I started by trying the "famous" 30 sec skip.
Most fortunately, the 3400 Motorola Cable Box is programmed to use both remotes so I am still using the 1067. I even found some posts here for how to do the 30 sec skip on the new remote. Basically, you add the 1067 device to it then tell it to use tht device for the 30 sec skip. It works because the 3400 accepts both remotes. I suspect that may not be true forever and/or there will be new functions only in the new remote (see below)
Another clue is all the built in Device Codes in the 1167 are different. In fact they are all 5 digit codes whereas the 1067 is 4 digit.
The Manuals/Instructions for both remotes are the same, except for the device codes. They are physically the same (buttons). However, I spoke to a local Comcast Engineer I know and he said there are many functions in the 3400 Box that are not released yet. He said there are also some diagnostic functions using that remote now with some combination keys.
When I download the 1167 to IR it says it is JP1.3 signature 30393039, processor Samsung S3F8
So, all is OK for now, but maybe not in the future. I could investigate further with my 8910 learning remote, but I was hoping to save a lot of effort if someone has the same devices. The RDF is the key.
I am the first person where I live, Tucson, to get the 3400 box other than a few Comcast employees. I am testing it for them. I was told it is available elsewhere but Comcast wants to unload their 64xx inventory first.
BTW, the 3400 handles 1080P, if Comcast ever has 1080P programming. It also automatically upconverts to the highest resolution in your TV (handshakes with HDMI). And, it has a 250G HD. Nice.

It appears that the RDF "30393039 (Comcast DVR URC-1067Bx3 JP1.3).rdf" is fine. You just need to start from scratch on your IR file and rework/reload all your upgrades in RM/KM for the new model. Your old 1067 upgrades won't work as is. Make sure you pick "Comcast DVR URC-1067Bx3 JP1.3" and not "Comcast-URC-1067" in RM. If that doesn't work, we'll still need to see your IR and RM files. Even though it takes 5 digit device codes, you still just use 4 digits in IR. Just make sure the device types (DVD, TV, etc.) match in both RM and IR. After you try that, let us know if you're still having problems.
Rob or Vicky, there's already a dump for the 1067Bx3 in the S3F8 folder we could compare to if the OP can give us one too.

Same goes for the radio shack 15-133, 134 and 135, unfortunately.vickyg2003 wrote:Yes but its normal among the Comcast 3 device remotes. I have the CS301009 Comcast 1067a JP1.2 remotes with 3 different button layout, but they are identical internally.
bigbge, have you tried selecting the 1067Bx3 in your upgrades in RM and reloading them per my previous post?
mdavej,
Haven't tried that yet, might be in a few days. I am using KM. Haven't used RM much. When I open it it says it can't find images for the remote (1067Bx3 JP1.3). I forgot where/how to find the images and where to save them. I assume it is the same images as the 1067A.
Another question. When I use IR and point it to the directory containing the RDF's, it has both (1067 and 1067Bx3). Does it pick the right one based on the KM or RM upgrade? What about for built in device codes, does it use the RDF file?
Sorry for the newbie type questions. I have used JP1 often for my remotes but not for the last year. I think I forgot a lot of stuff.

I have a little trouble picking out the right remote from the list, so I typically start IR with a download from the remote. It automatically picks it from the right Remote.Another question. When you are using RM you'll have to pick your own, but if I'm not mistaken, we through JP1.3 in the name, just to help with this.
I really like those short 1067 style remotes. They are absolutely wonderful when you work with people who have technology phobia, and need simplifed remotes. I haven't been able to stock up on them, because I can't tell a JP1.2 from a JP1.1. $he JP1.1 is very undesirable, since there is not a large user group nor any recognized JP1.1 "experts" that I know of. If I use a remote its got to have an extender and all the special protocols. I'm spoiled and I can't go back.
Currently we can quickly identify a Jp1.2 1067A from the JP1.3 1067B by asking if the color of the OK/Select key is Gray or RED.
Can you help me out here?
I was wondering if the OK/Select button on your JP1.3 short remote, has the identifying RED OK/Select button, or if it has that new Gunmetal Gray case instead of the light silver that was used on the earlier comcast 3 device buttons.
I don't know what you mean by short remote. The 1067 and 1167 remotes are exactly the same size. The 1067 is a silver color and the 1167 is dark(gunmetal?) grey. The OK/Select key is dark grey on the 1067 and red on the 1167. Again, the new one has a label inside that says 1167, not 1067B. in fact it says 1167BC0-0001-R.
So, are we talking about the right remote? (short??)

Oh boy, when I read your original post use said 1167 (as opposed to long used 1067) and I skipped the word used. I am totally off base and bummed out.I don't know what you mean by short remote.
