I found several upgrades in the files section that are close to what I need.

The "Denon AVR-3803" upgrade uses protocol "Denon Combo (Official)".
The "Denon 3808CI Denon-K Extensions" uses protocol "Denon-K".

Each upgrade has functions defined that I need and each upgrade works with the receiver (tested).

Now all I need to do is get both upgrades combined into one. I tried playing around with the "Device Combiner" protocol and also tried the "External Functions" tab but I cannot get it work.

Does anyone know how to resolve this?

In general, whenever you refer to files in the file section, it is helpful (i.e. easier for someone to help YOU) if you provide links to files in question.

To your questions, the Device Combiner cannot be used with the Denon-K protocol, since it is a 2-byte protocol, and the Device Combiner can only be used with 1-byte protocols.

The "Import Function" facility SHOULD work, but without seeing what you have done, we cannot tell. Upload your RM file (not just the ones in the file section, but the one YOU have created) that "does not work" with the Import function and explain what you have done, post a link, and someone may be able to help you.

Sorry for not providing links...

Downloaded upgrade files

1) Denon Combo (Official) -

2) Denon-K -
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=5393

Here is my RM upgrade
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=6763

Here is my ir file
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=6764

All I have done is used the combo version for a base and then imported the denon-k functions I want to use to the external functions tab. I then copy the upgrade to my ir file. The only chage is the new amp, everything else is the same.

The upgrade works for all of the combo protocol but not for any of the "external functions"

OK.

If you look at the imported functions, they get "imported" as Keymoves into your IR file. They are Keymoves that call on Audio/1178.

You must add the Audio/1178 device upgrade to your IR file so that those Keymoves will work. (and don't forget the Protocol upgrade if required.)

Thanks Capn Trips, that was the answer.

This is my first try at using external functions and I didn't realize what all the pieces required are. Works perfectly.

Thanks again!
