1. Device: Toshiba MW27H62
2. Type of device:TV/VCR/DVD/usb multimeda reader
3. Year: Somewhere in the 90's? ballpark guess
4. JP1/UEI Remote model: Atlas 1056 (JP1.3) - see note below
5. Do you have a JP1 cable? Yes
6. Still have original remote? Never had it.
7. Checked the file section? Yes.
8. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? Found a Toshiba MW20FM1 but I don't know how to use the file format.
9. Partially working setup code? This one makes me smile. See below
10. Learning remote question? N/A
The remote is believed to be an Atlas OCAP URC-1056. Back of the remote shows: 1056B01-L. www.urcsupport.com says it's a Atlas DVR-1056, IR.EXE calls it a Atlas OCAP PVR 3033 JP1.3(Black)/ Atlas OCAP (Silver) when connected. In remoteMaster selecting Atlas OCAP URC-1056 JP1.3 (Black) shows a remote which exactly matches what I have based on appearance in the layout tab.
Partially working setup codes:
TV 1635
DVD (vcr mode) 1045
VCR 1145
Audio 1023 ???I cannot remember if this added functionality or not
Through that mess of codes above I managed to gain control of many features, but get this...the menu button works only in DVD(VCR) mode, and once into the menus I have to switch to VCR mode to be able to navigate them, then back to DVD to exit the menu system or even select an option. I may have the device selection confused, but it gives you an idea of the mess I am dealing with.
My primary goal is to gain control of the USB port, and be able to play files from it. Cleaning up the mess listed above some would be nice too.
Gaining access to all features of the TV would be even better. |

Have you tried TV 1945?
That's for the Toshiba TV/DVD/VCR combination on the ocap. Also when you found a code that worked, did you proceed to the next code to see if you get more functionality? |

From the Devices.xls spreadsheet:
TV/1635 uses NEC1:64
DVD/1045 uses NEC 4Dev Combo:68 and 64
VCR/1145 uses the same as DVD/1045
So you should be able to combine all of the functions that work in a single upgrade using NEC 4Dev Combo. I don't know where you can get the functions within those setup code
(Audio/1023 is a standard Pioneer Receiver setup code. I would suspect that it does onthing on your Toshiba machine)
You can decode that ccf file using decode.ccf, but it yields SOME NEC1 functions using devices 64 and 68, which are liekly useful to you, and the rest of the functions decode as "udb-VCR:45" and "udb-TV:156". _________________ Beginners - Read this thread first

I just re-looked at TV 1945 with the following results:
Exit: works, exits the menu system.
Menu: fails
up/down/left/right/select: work
volume/mute/channel/last channel: work
Rew/Play/FFWD/Stop/pause/record: work
Numeric keys work
Video source works, but does not give access to the USB source.
Any keys not listed do nothing (don't even flash on the remote).
VCR 1145 has the menu button functionality. Otherwise it loses functionality from TV 1945

The button I am looking for access to from the original remote has 3 labels on the original remote. "Program", "Repeat A-B", and "DVD/USB". In the list given "Program LEARNED NEC1 68 92" caught my eye. I tried to use IR.exe to create a new learned signal to give it a try:
Device TV
Key Replay
Data NEC1 68 92
Failed! You probably see why right off, but my lack of experience really shines here. The error message: "Invalid character in input" Is there a document somewhere I should read before trying to do something like this? |

Here are some efc's that fo with the devices capn listed. These are a composite of many remotes. Set your remote in the proper mode and try the different efc's by doing a short press of the setup key followed by the efc. I beleive you'll need to use 00 infront of the 3 digit efc's.

The combo codes are really combinations of devs 64 and 68 (the 187 and 191 codes that were mentioned previously are the sub-devices, and in this case they are equal to 255 minus the device code. ie, 187 = 255 - 68 and 191 = 255 - 64, so they can be ignored). I've cleaned up the earlier posts.
TV/1635 = NEC1, dev 64
DVD/1045 NEC1 combo, dev 64 and 68
VCR/1145 NEC1 combo, dev 64 and 68
From the CCF file, some buttons use NEC1, dev 64 and some use NEC1, dev 68. The following UDB codes are also used:
TV/0156 = NEC1, dev 64
VCR/0045 = NEC1, dev 68
So I think it's safe to say that all the buttons for this device use NEC1 with either 64 or 68 as the device code. Unfortunately, we don't know how to figure out the OBCs and EFCs from the UDB entries, so the CCF file is of limited use to us here.
From the description in the first post, I assume the Atlas remote has signature "30333033".
efilnikufecin wrote: | Any keys not listed do nothing (don't even flash on the remote) |
The following TV/1945 buttons should have at least flashed the remote, because they have codes programmed to them, so could you confirm if they work:
POWER
LAST
INFO
EXIT
Were there any buttons in TV/1635 or DVD/1045 that worked that were not covered by TV/1945?
Here are the EFC5s to try for the buttons that you're looking for:
07397 Program or Repeat A-B
03557 DVD/USB
I've created an upgrade file that has all of the buttons that you mentioned from TV/1945 (and MENU from VCR/1145), plus I included the buttons from the CCF file that actually decoded properly.

Power works...I cannot believe I forgot that one.
Last Works...I mentioned it as "last channel" Sorry bout that.
Info Works...Very easy key to overlook. Sorry.
Exit works as listed in my post...first button listed.

Not that I noticed for TV1635
DVD/1045 is actually a vcr code not a DVD code. Turns out after checking the answer is no, there is no functionality gained from VCR/1045
Recap: VCR 1145 adds the menu key, but loses a lot of keys.

I've looked all over IR for the signature, I don't see it.

Remote master said when I loaded the file "The upgrade file you are loading is for the remote ATLAS OCAP URC 1055/1056 There is no remote with that exact name. Please choose the best match."
I selected ATLAS OCAP URC-1056 JP 1.3 (Black)
There were buttons that provided odd behavior.
Pause muted the volume
Pressing play toggled through sleep times.
Rest of the buttons failed to function other than lighting the remote.
Power was not an option.
I will try to get to a printer in the morning to print all those EFC's so I can go try them. I don't keep one at home because I rarely use it, and tend to waste money on ink drying up if I have one.

I could not get any of the EFCs listed under TV/1635 to work.

41413 Left
24773 Right
11397 Info
45701 Last
24261 OK
29317 Input/source
45253 Play
44229 Stop
44495 Pause
07397 DVD/USB (see note below)
03557 DVD mode
exit does not work as exit with any given code, it switches between SP/slp maybe I was mistaken before.
Format 16:9 untested
Skip+ and skip- untested
07397 brings up the menu to switch between DVD and USB when in DVD mode. When not in DVD mode it brings up the vcr record programming menu. When playing something, it toggles repeat modes.
03557 put's the unit into DVD mode. Short of pushing the play button on the DVD section of the front panel of the TV this is the only way to get the TV into DVD mode that I have seen.
The following functions existed in the list, however do not appear in the owners manual which I downloaded.
Settings
B/Blue
D/Green

TV 1945 I am 85% sure.
vcr 1145 is the other possibility. The DVD key was programmed to some weird code. |

TV/1945, VCR/1145 and DVD/1045 all have exactly the same protocol setup (ie, NEC1 combo of 68 and 64), so the same set of EFC5 should work with either of them.
You could also use them to patch up the upgrade that I created for you. _________________ Rob

I started changing some EFC5s and have ran into an issue. When trying to enter an EFC5 for the stop button, it keeps changing the code I entered (44229) to 44485 which in my case is the appropriate code for the pause button.
I am sure this problem is due to ignorance on my part...I couldn't find a document telling much more about what I was doing than "Enter one of the numeric codes, and the others will fill in for you". Any ideas what I am doing wrong? |

44229 and 44485 are equivalent (485-256=229). That's how it works with codes above xx255 since there can only be 256 possible codes. So if 44229 isn't working for pause, you'll have to keep looking. The good news is, if you're doing this by trial and error, you can stop after xx255.
EDIT: Never mind. Turns out this is incorrect. See next post.
