1. Device: Fluid 720p Plasma (OEM Proview LV421AB-XA2)
2. Type of device: TV
3. Year: 2008 (to my knowledge)
4. JP1/UEI Remote model: Atlas 1056 (black) remote
5. Do you have a JP1 cable? No
6. Still have original remote? YES
7. Checked the file section? I don't really know what I'm looking for
8. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? I do not understand this
9. Partially working setup code? TV/0835, 1401, and 1498
10. Learning remote question? Do not have a JP1 learning remote (I do have a Logitech Harmony)
I've got an Atlas 1056 (black) remote. All I'd like it to control right now is my Motorola DCT6208, and my TV (OEM Proview LV421AB-XA2).
The Motorola box on the Cable button is working just fine.
The TV is *close*. Codes 0835, 1401, and 1498 all work about the same and are generally good for controlling the TV functionality. However NONE of those codes seems to properly map the OK/SELECT button that's in the middle of the 4-directional arrows. This means that while I can open the Input or Menu options, I can't actually select anything!
I'm confused as to where I can go from here. The remote is JP1.3 so I think I should be able to configure it. From what I've gathered so far, it sounds like what I want to do is start from one of those working 0835/1401/1498 sets and just tweak the couple buttons that I'd like to set.
But I'm pretty lost as to how to do that. I know I'll need a JP1 cable of some sort. But I'll also need some way of capturing/discovering the code for the "OK" button from the TV's remote. I have an old Logitech Harmony learning remote that may help? I've also got a USB IR receiver for my Microsoft Media Center Remote, or the IR receiver that came with my Happauge PCI TV capture card.
I would really appreciate if someone could give me a nudge in the right direction. I think right now the two buttons I'd really like to get mapped are the "OK" (so that I can select different inputs), and the "Aspect" button so I can change from 4:3 to 16:9 when necessary.
Thanks in advance for any help that can be provided. There's just so much information here I've found it a bit overwhelming to start with.

I'm not sure if this'll work on the atlas (I have the 1056 3033, but dont' have time to test it right now.
what you need, if you're just missing one or two keys is an "advanced code". Here's the 3 digit code to try for "enter/select" : 00027
In the instructions below, the "device key" = TV and "5 digit code" = 00027.
I'd not test it and just program it to the key you want using "B.".
I don't see a code for aspect in this upgrade HERE
A. To test a code:
# Press the device key
# Press SETUP (don't hold it)
# Enter the 5 digit code
# Check for a response from your equipment
# (Holding the final digit down is the same as holding the actual button down)
B. To program a code:
# Press the device key
# Press and hold SETUP (wait for two blinks)
# Enter 9-9-4 (wait for two blinks)
# (Optional) Press the device button the code is coming from
# Press SETUP (don't hold it)
# Enter the 5 digit code
# (Optional) Press the device button the code is going to
# Press the button to be assigned

Thanks for the tips so far.
I tried the advance code programming, substituting in 2 leading zeroes to create a 5-digit code of 00027. At least now when I hit "OK" in TV mode the TV button lights up - previously the Cable button would light and it would command the Motorola box.
Unfortunately the code didn't seem to work and it doesn't actually have an effect when I push the button.

Hi Jeff - yes, that's what I was trying to say. I've already got Device TV set up as 0835 since that gets most functions working. I then tried 00027 for the TV "OK" button. I know it did SOMETHING because hitting OK now has the Device TV button flash red when I hit OK, rather than previously when it would actually flash the Device Cable button.
But it doesn't have the desired effect of being able to select anything in any menu on the TV.

ok. Just being sure. Maybe someone else has another idea.
As these remotes generally aren't learners, but look HERE for details on identification, you're probably on your way to getting an interface for this remote (JP1.2/JP1.3 flash). I'd recommend THE USB ONE FOUND HERE available from Tommy.
You'll need some software such as RM (remote master) or KM (keymap master) found HERE in the software forum for creating an upgrade that provides the full functionality for the device you're trying to control with the buttons as you like them.
Then you need the program that interfaces via the cable to your remote, IR version 8 beta is the latest also found via the link above.
Als check the beginner's forum HERE and read the appropriate stickies, such as the one for beginners to read first.
Best,
jeff

Going back to your initial post, you do not state whether or not you have the OEM remote for your TV, nor do you state whether or not your Atlas is a learner (some of them are). The answers to these questions will make it easier or harder to accomplish your goal.

What you're asking is really a code search question, so I've included the template into your original post, but please feel free to correct the answers that I've filled in for you and to answer the remaining questions. For example, is "Proview LV421AB-XA2" really the brand and model number, because a web search only found two hits, and one of them suggested that the true brand/model (that it's actually sold under) is "FLUID 720P".
Now, for the technical folks reading this, all three setup codes mentioned (ie,0835,1401,1498) use the NEC1 protocol with a device code of 8. Other similar TV codes include 1031, 1211, 1326 and 1645. All of the Proview upgrades in the file section (except for the Proview TV TL29N6P) also use NEC1, dev 8, so any one of these is probably a good match for your TV.
I just looked at the Proview upgrades that match your setup codes, and they all use the following EFCs for the arrow and select buttons...
00182 - up arrow
00186 - down arrow
00169 - left arrow
00171 - right arrow
00167 - OK
However, these codes match those that are programmed as part of the TV/0835 and all the other setup codes that you tried.
The 00251 code that others have suggested is the "ENTER" button from the OEM remote (as opposed to the "SELECT" or "OK" button) but if the SELECT button doesn't work under TV/0835, I would suggest that you try it.

OK I have done my best with the template updated in my first post. The Robman wrote:but please feel free to correct the answers that I've filled in for you and to answer the remaining questions.
Actually when I used the 0835 codeset, hitting "OK" on the remote while in TV did nothing - the CABLE device button would blink and it would perform the OK function on the cable box despite my being set to TV device! The Robman wrote:00167 - OK

As above I tried 00027 as per Jeff's suggestion. At least then the TV button would light, but nothing would happen.
But 00167 did the trick! I did the 9-9-4 method and used 00167 and now the TV recognizes it as the OK button and I can now switch inputs using the Atlas remote. My thanks to all of you for your help so far.
The icing on the cake would be to now get the "P.SIZE" (picture size) button on the TV remote to map to the "ASPECT" button on the Atlas remote.
You guys were obviously able to take a look at SOME kind of file, and then pull out those "EFC" codes for the OK button. How would I go about this, trying to see if someone has a file in which I could try to find an EFC for the P.SIZE button? Am I in the wrong forum to ask this type of question - is this another "code search" question?

The files that we're looking at are the upgrade files for Proview TV sets in the file section.
I don't see a picture size button in any of the upgrades, but here are some possibilities...
00056 scale (1)
00058 scale (2)
00170 picture mode

That means you already had a KeyMove defined to make the TV's OK button send the Cable Setup code's OK function.Viridium wrote:Actually when I used the 0835 codeset, hitting "OK" on the remote while in TV did nothing - the CABLE device button would blink and it would perform the OK function on the cable box despite my being set to TV device!
Changing the setup code assigned to a device button does not affect any pre existing KeyMoves. So you never really tried the OK button built into TV/0835. To use that, you would need cancel the Keymove.
That replaced the Cable setup code Keymove with a wrong keymove for the TV setup code.As above I tried 00027 as per Jeff's suggestion. At least then the TV button would light, but nothing would happen.
That works, but it wastes space in the remote's KeyMove memory. You probably should cancel the KeyMove:But 00167 did the trick! I did the 9-9-4 method and used 00167 and now the TV recognizes it as the OK button
Press TV
Long Press of setup or magic or P or whatever the programming button is labeled on your model remote.
Key in 994
Press the OK button twice.

Thank you, The Robman. I will give those three a try and see if any of them have the desired effect. The Robman wrote:The files that we're looking at are the upgrade files for Proview TV sets in the file section.

For the file section - OK I think I sorta understand that. I went there and just did a search for "Proview" and it turned up several hits. Two of the file formats I wasn't familiar with and didn't really show up as anything when opened in a text editor. The others were .TXT files that I was able to open. It wasn't easy to decipher them but I think I see where some of it is coming from.
Well this was the remote as it was provided to me with the Motorola cable box. However the information should still prove useful - it seems like right now the remote also has a keymove implemented so that when in Cable mode, the volume buttons are activating the volume on the TV. My wife would like to try and cancel that so that we can do the cable box and TV volume independently. Thank you for the information.johnsfine wrote:That means you already had a KeyMove defined to make the TV's OK button send the Cable Setup code's OK function.
