I used to have a setup where my Sky box (standard) was connected via a non-sky brand video sender (with integrated IR return) to a TV in an upstairs room.
This worked fine until my box died and Sky installed a replacement, complete with a new remote. Since then the IR return stopped working and the only way I could get it to work was to use a completely independent remote control repeater (a really old one from before video senders were really around) instead. This has since given up the ghost so I'm stuck again. I now have a Sky+ box and its remote, which also does not work. The other things like my Sony TV, DVD/PVR combo and JVC 10 year old hi-fi/CD combo all work fine over the IR return so I know that it is working ok.
Is there something about the Sky/Sky+ IR wavelength/protocols/frequency/whatever that is possibly causing this? It is most odd.
I'd appreciate any help/advice on this one.
Cheers,
Simon.

Well, it could be that the RC6-6-20 protocol is simply too complicated for it. Although, I suspect that if the IR remote doesn't work without the video sender/ir repeater then placing another obstacle in its path isn't going help it.SToP GAP wrote:I used to have a setup where my Sky box (standard) was connected via a non-sky brand video sender (with integrated IR return) to a TV in an upstairs room.
