Hello,

I will try to be clear but i'm not good in english... sorry...

I need to freezone my pioneer dvr-555H
I found this hack : http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks/pioneer-dvr-555h/9116

Pronto is really expensive, so i bought especialy a OneForAll remote, the URC-7780
I didn't get a cable cause i only need to upgrade my remote one time.

I tried to upgrade with the wav found here : http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3239&highlight=pioneer+region but no succes, the remote tell "download failed" everytime

I readed the newbie section and the very well done tutorial here : http://www.hifi-remote.com/jp1/help/

So i converted the CCF file with DecodeCCF
I imported the result in Keymap-Master but i didn't find the 7780 in the remote dropdown menu...
I tried with many other models but no success and the damn "download failed" everytime.

Someone can help me ? What can i do now ?
Or is there an angel who can post me the correct wav ?

here is the converted ccf :

If KM doesn't support your remote, try RemoteMaster (RM)

Thanks...
I tried but it don't work Sad

So i installed RemoteMaster + URC-7780 RDF
I tried to open the KM device upgrade and i have an error :

The selected protocol "Manuel Settings" (00 FF : manual) is not compatible with the selected remote

So i try to generate a wav with another protocol (pioneer dvd) but download failed again...
Next I try with the original protocol but didn't work either...

I have a 6sec. wav, the "shutdown" button of the remote blink one time after +/- 2 sec and "download failed" after 4 sec.

Can you help me ?
Thanks again
Carbone

The remote blink afeter some seconds like before but this time it "listen" to the wav until the end...
Some second after the wav stop, it blink and "download failed"

But this time, it show the version (UEI SW version 1062) and i have to setup the day/hour again.

Am i doing something wrong ?
Have i to push a key when the wav is finish ?

Thanks a lot for your help and sorry for my newbie stupidness.

I think you procedure is correct, but I don't really remember the steps. Try again. I've uploaded a different version.

Hi, Carbone. Don't give up yet. You are not doing anything wrong. WAV files produced by IR.exe with IRtoWav won't load into the URC-7780. I have the later model, the very similar URC-7781, and I know this from my own experience. But I think I know why they won't load and I will try to resolve this. I'll make a later post to this thread when I have investigated further.

BTW If you are planning to use the URC-7780 with IR.exe, you should be aware that this is not the only incompatibility between them. I am currently developing a new version of IR.exe that will be compatible with the URC-7780 and URC-7781. I had forgotten this problem with WAV files until now. If I can resolve the difficulty, I will see that this too goes into the new version.

Progress Report: I have successfully generated a .wav file that will load into my URC-7781, so that's found the root of one problem. But I can't find the data that you need to put into your remote. I can't tell if mdavej had the right data in his WAV file but just the wrong format of the file, as I can't extract the data from it. Your output from DecodeCCF only contains the protocol for a remote with a S3C8+ processor, but your remote (and mine) uses the HCS08 processor and the protocol is very specific to the type of processor in the remote.

I've followed the links in your first message but they don't help. DecodeCCF only seems to extract data for an S3C8+, not an HCS08. Perhaps mdavej can tell us what data he used. In the meantime I will see if I can decode what the S3C8+ protocol does. If so, I may be able to create an equivalent for the HCS08.

I'll report again later!

I just saved the code in carbone's original post as a txt file, opened in RM, changed the protocol to panasonic DVD then the remote to 7780. I don't have the files or IR/RM at the moment or I'd post them.

The file referred to in the original post has both the S3C8 and HCS08 protocol code in it. Here's the file...

Rob

Many thanks. I missed this somehow when looking through the links from carbone's original message.

Carbone

I've created a WAV file from Rob's data here. As you know, you play the WAV file with the LCD setup screen showing "Downloading Now". When the file finishes, this should have changed to "Download Successful!". You have now installed an upgrade with device type = DVD and setup code = 2000.

You next need to add a device that uses this upgrade. You can continue directly from the "Download Successful!" display as follows. Press Light/ESC to get back to "Download", then LCDRightArrow to get to "Device". Press Enter to get to "Add Device", Enter again to show a list of device types. Select DVD, press Enter, so "Code Setup" shows on screen. Press Enter once more and it will now show DVD on top line and something like Y0539 on the bottom line with a flashing cursor over the 0. Type in the setup code 2000 and press Enter once more. Screen returns to "Add Device". Hold down the Light/ESC key until screen returns to normal use, with day, time and a device list displayed. This list will now include DVD, your new device.

If you wait too long and the screen times out and goes blank, you need to restart setup by a long keypress of Magic. Two Enters will take you back to "Add Device", from which you can continue as above. Once you have made a successful download, this is permanent. You don't need to do that again.

Your new DVD device has only one operational button, the Power button (you will see the LED light up when you press Power, but not when you press other buttons.) The Power button should send the signal to make your DVD be region-free.

I've created the equivalent file for my URC-7781 and it works on my remote as I've described. As I haven't got a Pioneer DVD player I can't check that the signal works. Good luck this time and please report what happens.
