I have tried both orientations, but I don't know whether it is actually Pin 2. In looking at my old JP1 cable, Pin 1 is on the right side of the header (when using the same orientation as the phot.o above), which would suggest that may well have been Pin 2.

You can't always rely on the orientation of the cable relative to the IDC connector, but there should be a marking of some sort on the IDC connector itself that designates pin1.

If you have cut the wrong wire, you can remove the IDC connector, cut away the damaged end of the ribbon cable, then re-connect the IDC using which ever orientation that works best for you, then re-cut the correct pin5 wire.

Well, if you cut the wrong one the good news is that you can get back to where you started by removing the entire snap-on cap for the crimp connector, cut a half inch or so off the entire cable and re-crimp it back on. A C-Clamp will usually do the job.

I attempted to reply earlier, but I noticed it did not submit. According to the indicator on the header, I did, indeed cut Pin 5. Now whether the cable is wired properly is anyone's guess. Looking at the connector I can figure out how to remove the header without possibly damaging it.

I saw that image a few days ago, but these cables use a different type of header which seems to have a tiny latch on either side.
