OK, I was able to install the RCA upgrade with no memory problems. I'm a little unclear as to how to proceed from here.
One person suggested
"For example you could assign all of the input selects of the RCA switcher to xshifted numeral buttons in the dev8 device mode"
Where and how do I do this? Is this in IR?
The other person said
"Even better would be to assign them to a (x)shifted/unused button under the device corresponding to that input."
This sounds a lot like what the first person said. I assume it is different somehow, but it beats me how.
If this is documented somewhere, please point me to it. I know once I see an example or have it spelled out a little bit, I'll figure it out. Thanks for your patience and try to go easy on me. Thanks

No documentation per se, other than the basic stuff. If you are using RM, this becomes much easier. Open the upgrade in RM. Look at the button assignment page (either the "buttons" or the "layout"). If you examine these displays closely, you should figure out, eventually, that you can assign functions to shifted and x-shifted buttons here. Do so, and they will be imported into IR as keymoves when you copy over the upgrade.
Upon pasting teyh upgrade into IR, IR will tell you that you MUST assign this setup code to a device button or else your keymoves won't work. That's not necessarily true, but for the short term, go ahead and assign the upgrade to any device key. This will ensure that your keymoves get imported. Then go and reassign that device key back to whatever you had previously. The keymoves will remain, but not "tied" to any device index.
Once these functions are in IR as keymoves, it's a simple matter to edit any of them to not only be assigned to a different real, shifted or xshifted button, but also they could (and SHOULD) be reassigned to any device mode.
If you use KM, then you can't assign functions to x-shifted buttons, but you still can assign them to shifted buttons. Then once imported into IR, you go to the keymoves tab and edit them to be on xshifted buttons vice shifted.
You can now call on these "buttons" in any macro/LDKP/DSM sequence you desire.

I tried what you suggested, I moved the 4 number keys to shift numbers in KM and then imported the upgrade to IR. I assigned it to the TV device temporarily. I then moved the TV device back to the projector. I then edited one of the keymoves changing them to dev8 (Score Selector Pro) and changing the key to Xshift1.
I then added it to one of my macros to test. It worked great.
I went back to IR to change the others and when I tried to upload the changes to my remote, I get a single red flash rather than two. And depressing the power button does not cause the red light to blink.
I tried loading several other previously good IR files and get the same response.
I am assuming the single flash means the upload failed. Can someone give me some advice on troubleshooting this? Thanks

When in doubt, you can always remove and reinstall the batteries, and conduct an MFR reset and reload your IR image.
Also, when asking about IR behaviour, it's usually helpful to post your IR file in the diagnostic area with a link to it here in the thread, whilst describing what you did, and what symptoms you are seeing.
