I don't doubt that there could be problems with the 740 version of this protocol (I haven't had a chance to test it myself) but I am puzzled by something in this IR file if it is indeed a downloaded file. How come the setup code on every device button, other than VCR, is 0000? I'm pretty sure the remote doesn't have a 0000 code for each of those device types. Normally, when you assign a bad code to a device button in IR and load it into the remote, if you then do a download you'll see that the remote has replaced all of the bad codes with the default setup code for that device button, which doesn't seem to have happened here.

So, either (a) you are mistaken and this is really an upload file rather than a download file, or (b) there's something funny going on in the remote itself and it's not reading the EEPROM correctly.

If I have time, I will try loading this file into one of my URC-9800 remotes and try it out on my Replay.

I am BAD today. That file is the first one created (exact same data). I will post the complete downloaded version in a few minutes.

On the ir file I uploaded for you does the macro button not do 3 min forward and macro2 not do 3 min back? I put a lot of the other stuff on phantom and virtual buttons but am just concerned with the macro and macro2 button for the time being.

They did say that protocol with that processor might have problems.

I tried creating an upgrade for one of my URC-9800 remotes and I couldn't get the special functions to work either.

Aight one more test. If it is no go then I am completely stumped. Still mostly concerned with the macro and macro2 buttons. That is where I put 3 min forward and back.

File is removed

Replay upgrade is mostly working now on the 8811, but a few questions remain
1. If I try to assign functions to learning keys (can I??), do I have to clear residual learned commands first, or will the new programming clear/overwrite

2. Same question re macro keys

3. Programming doesn't seem to clear key moves, leaving residual which may conflict with new programming
Basically, am I better starting with a clean remote?

If you're referring to the L1-L4 buttons, yes; you can assign key moves to those buttons either in the KM upgrade or directly in IR.
do I have to clear residual learned commands first
Yes. Learned commands are stored in a seperate area of the EEPROM.

For the most part, any given button can have a learned command, a macro, and a key move assigned to it. However, the remote will execute the first function it finds in this order:

1) Learned signal
2) Macro
3) Key move

re macro keys
The same rules above apply to the M1-M4 buttons

programming doesn't seem to clear key moves, leaving residual which may conflict with new programming
Correct. If you have a learned signal on TV:L1, a key move can also be bound to that same button, but the remote will never execute it (same rules as above).
