Rob,

FYI there is an HD VOD system for cable called Moxie being rolled out in the LA area and others. There are STB's by Motorola and Panasonic that use this same IR Protocol. I think most of them obey the same check nibble in both fixed and variable data, but I wouldn't hard code that relationship into the fixed data. I also haven't analyzed the Escient commands.

I think this IR protocol was created by UEI and is being marketed to the STB manufacturer's.

This is indeed a proprietary UEI protocol. It's also used for the Dreambox. I believe they acquired it when they bought some gaming company or something like that.
