Use Setup code TV 0178. 1993 can be made to work, but needs completely different EFCs.

Otherwise your precedure is fine.

One for All remote control for LG smart TV

Post by harold »

I am looking for a OFA remote control to access the service menu of my LG smart tv 42LV3730. I found URC7711 or URC3415 in a store. Can any of these remotes do the job of accessing the service menu to change the country code and to enable additional USB ports. Thanks for any help.

There's already a HUGE thread on this listing lots of compatible remotes and codes. Check the manuals of the models you found to see if they have the right codes.

The remotes in the shop are in sealed packing. Where can I find the website for the manuals for URC7711 or URC3415? Thanks

I have an LG 55LV9500 LED TV (it is a brand new set, 2011, supposed to be 55LW9500, but LG cancelled the 55LW9500 and made this instead). The new version of this TV is the 55LW9800. I say this so you know I am working with a brand new LG TV.

Anyway, I am trying to get my RCA RCPB05B to work to get into the service menu. However, everything I do is not working to access menu. I have tried what seems every setup code listed, and then program the red/yellow/blue/green buttons for ez-adjust, instop, etc., yet nothing works.

I wil let you know that none of the setup codes seem to control my TV, other than a few will power off the set but nothing more. Do you know of a new setup code that will work for my TV and remote? Thanks!

Your television is so new that it is neither represented on LG's website nor Logitech's Harmony Database (LHD). There wasn't a direct match for the 55LV9500 but I was offered the following consolation selections from LHD: LG 55LX9500, 55LW9500, or 55LV3500. I'll put together some files for the 55LW9500 since I understand its pretty much the same television with additional 3D support.
Remotes; JP1.2: Comcast URC-1067, JP1.3: Insignia NS-RC02U-10A, JP1.4 OARI06G, JP2.1: Cox URC-8820-MOTO (still trying to figure out how to make them self-aware.)

Here are the EFCs and compatible setup codes from eferz's files. According to page 125 of the MANUAL, eferz's codes are the correct ones for your TV.

Setup codes: TV 0030, 0178, 0856, 1178, 1240, 1283, 1325, 1331, 1423, 1748, 1749, 1758, 1768, 2138. The best match is probably 1331. It's really surprising that none of these work more than just power considering most of them have exactly the same volume codes as are in the manual

I just noticed that some of the codes are duplicated; page up & channel up, page down & channel down, favorite & mark, home & menu, 3DOption and Q.Menu, and List & - (the channel delimiter).

I just combined the duplicate entries in Dave's post.

Thanks for all your replies. I finally got it to work with code 1423. Easy to access service remote now (using the 994 command to add the keys I found somewhere on internet).

Now, a little about this TV, It's the LG 55LV9500 (my build date is Aug 2011). What it really is the LG 55LW9500, that was a 3D TV due to release this summer. The LW was to have active 3D. LG decided to change their direction on 3D to passive. So, LG made a few of these 55LV9500 with the 3D deactivated and sold them only on HSN for $1600. I programmed my Harmony remote to work with this TV using the 55LW9500 codes and it works fine.

Thanks to all for helping this noob out!! :)

Does getting into the service menu let you re-activate the 3D? If so, could you post more info?

I found the info about activating the 3D feature here:
Press the EZAdjust button.
You will be prompted for a service password which is 0413

You should then be presented with the EZAdjust Tool menu

Select Tool Option 5
Set 3d Display Type to 3D
Set 2D to 3D to On

Press Back on your remote and press EZAdjust button again, re-entering the password when prompted

Select Tool Option 6
Set 3D THX to 1

Press Back on your remote

At this point, you should be able to see the 3D Video menu under Setup/Picture menu and the 3D quick menu if using the Motion Remote. In my experience, this simply brightened the screen when enabled.

In order for the TV to correctly process 3D material, the InStop function had to be passed. This is bascially a factory reset, so be sure to make note of any settings as these will be lost.

Press the InStop command on your learning remote and enter the 0413 password.
This will reset the TV and power it off. Power it back on from the remote and 3D should now be enabled.

Lastly, in order for the TV to advise other devices of it's 3D capability, you will need to "download" the EDID data. The service manual advises that all HDMI and RGB inputs need to be removed from the screen prior to doing this, so please remove all inputs from the screen.

Press the EZ Adjust button on your remote
Select EDID D/L menu. (US panels seem to have EDID AC3 and EDID PCM, you will need to select the audio method you're using)

Press the OK/Enter button and EDID download will begin

If Download is successful, OK is display, but If Download is
failure, NG is displayed. If Download is failure, Re-try download again.
