I tried the built-in device codes for my Onkyo reciever and they don't work very well or at all. I used this device upgrade with my RS 15-2117 and it works great, but when I took the same file, changed the remote to the 6131 from the 15-2117 (or started with the original file, I tried both) the column on the Buttons tab for shift functions is greyed out! I changed the device back to the 15-2117 and its ok. I loaded other device files I used (Sony protocols, Cyberhome 300 DVD player, ReplayTV modified) and they all have the shift column enabled. Its only this file which doesn't. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? The only function I really want is the power off function and I guess I could stick it on something like the pip buttons or the PVR buttons but that's so non-intuitive that I'll never remember I put it there.

PS: In reading through the postings here (I did a search on 6131 before I posted this) I saw comments about the 6131 Extender remote and got the impression that is no longer needed as KM will generate the right kind of keymoves. Is this correct?
PPS: As a workaround I thought about setting power off (since the Onkyo has no power toggle, just discrete on/off codes) to some key like phantom 1, but that's greyed out also. Then I remembered if I used a macro on shift-power, it would work on any device, as macros are global. So I'm rather stuck.

Yeah, this is strange... Also, if you change protocol from Device Combiner to something else that column becomes available again. The same if you change remote to extended version.
Here is one possible solution (mentioned in the comments for that file) you can split this upgrade into 4. The combination of protocol + sub-device which is used in most buttons (I believe it's NEC1+109) will be your device upgrade. Remaining buttons you can define as keymoves.
However, it is still unclear why unextended remote can cupport shifted keys with other protocols and can not with Device Combiner.

Mark has only implemented limited support for keymoves with the un-extended URC-6131. He's only supporting 1-byte keymoves at this time because we don't know how to format 2-byte keymoves using the new format.
The Device Combiner uses 2-byte keymoves.
The Device Combiner uses 2-byte keymoves.
