I reached zero bytes left in Keymove/Macro and have a ton of space on the Upgrade side. It's for RCRP05B. Unextended.
I thought IR will let me overflow as it does on 8910 and others, but for some reason I got a message to remove keymoves instead. Is that correct? Or should I try harder?

Overflow is for upgrades, not keymoves/macros.

I guess I really need to get cracking on that extender!
Actually, it's entirely coded and it assembles but I have had no time to actually try and debug it. Given that it is not a direct port of the Atlas (I had to use the 89xx style HT setup to make the key sets fit) I'm hesitant to let it into the wild.

Greg,
You're right. It's been so long since last edit of 8910, I didn't notice/remember which area was allowed to increase beyond its stated limits. Thanks.
So it takes extender to give me more keymove/macro area, right?
Bill,
If you have time, in your busy life, I can try to work your assembled opus magnum if you promise it'll not break the remote 'cause I'm clueless about the state of the remote inspite of all your answers to me about Atlas. I have got to know and trust that the remote is in an unextended state when I think it is, and that it is in extended state when I enable the extender.
Is it also a resident-always extender like Atlas? I can't get the hang of it really.
8910-style keysets jobs sound great to me
easier to work with.
If I/it break the remote, I'll need step-by-step as to how to recover to the base image.
One other thing makes me nervous about trying the extender here - I'm not yet familiar with its unextended state. So far just playing and pushing what I can. For instance, manually programmed, by some 9xx instruction, DSM and a global macro on the same button work. Yet IR is not allowing me to edit the global macro because DSM is already there. That sort of thing I need to understand, I think.
What use would that sort of DSM have, I don't know, but the remote is able to do that and I should understand it, I think.
I want to try this remote on my sister's gear eventually, and the extender would be cool, considering how I just ran out of keymove/macro memory in unextended, in no time.

the "Easiest" way to determine if the extender is activated is to use the long press of setup key. (make sure you have this enabled in IR on the OCAP since that can also be set to toggle the backlight enable)
If a long press of setup results in 4 blinks, the extender was active and now is no longer active. You can reactivate by pressing TV/OK
If a long press of setup results in 2 blinks, the extender was not active and it still isn't. You are now in setup mode, let the remote sit for a minute and it will exit setup.
