Cinetron DT-6000EX IR code

Post by watgundam »

Hi,

I am trying to setup my Slingbox Pro to work w/ my newly purchased Cable box (Cinetron DT-6000EX) in Hong Kong.

I have tried all of the existing codes (all manufacturers and all custom), and only (0002) code can control Channel-Down w/ the Power-key. I have tried to go to http://betaremotes.slingbox.com, but whenver I clicked "Get Started", I got "Cannot display the webpage" error. I have setup my Sling Account and configured via the web setting successfully (except the remote part).

I don't have the JP1 cable and I can't find it in Hong Kong, so I am not able to follow Alan Richey's instruction to learn the code and construct the remote codes for Cinetron DT-6000EX.

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks!

Alan, I couldn't find where there was any Cable/0002 code built into a slingbox. Is this a standard code, or is this some kind of custom code that means absolutely nothing without a bin file?

You need a Slingbox :-)

What Sling have done is provide a list of supported models for each manufacturer, then an option called 'Other' with a list of possible alternative codes. They call them Code 001, Code 002... but that means absolutely nothing, it is just a selection method and we have no way of knowing what lies behind the selections.

Its not going to happen, although now that all the DVD rental places near me in Mi and Fl have gone out of business here , I do need something to fill that void.

So unless I downloaded it and captured it with a widget, I'd have no way of knowing what this 0002 code is.

That's right, although you can't even download it. I would have to install it on a Slingbox and learn the codes from the IR Blaster.

Well... in some cases, you can download remote bin files from the Sling Media's servers. Although, getting the information for the correct URL isn't straight forward. We know the URL that Slingplayer clients to use to download the hosted bin files follow this pattern.

Code: Select all

http://autoupdate.sling.com/tinybird/ir-sbav/SBAV-??.sbav/X####_!!.bin

Where X = device representation and #### = setup code.
For NTSC boxes ?? = JB and !! = PL
For PAL boxes ?? = RV and !! = RV
To get the X#### information, you'll have to get it from the web slingplayer's logfile. Open up watch.slingbox.com and wait about a minute, this will give it enough time for the plug-in to identify the associated codes on the Slingbox and check online for the configuration xml file. It only does it once for each IR code, and won't check again the information is cached. Uninstalling the plug-in, deleting the respective folders, and reinstalling the and will make it check again.

Once you've given it enough time to check for the config file, you can open up the web slingplayer logs and do search for "ir code" text. Eventually, you'll find the codes the Slingbox is using. You can plug in the information with the URL pattern mentioned above. If its available then it will be downloaded. You can then import that file into RM and then play with it till your heart's content.
