This is the JP1 beginners forum. There's no such thing as a stupid question in here, so post away, but this forum is just for JP1 users and people considering JP1, non-JP1 users please use the appropriate forum above!

Protocol ID not showing up in KM

Post by DragonDan »

So I was doing okay on my first upgrade for my Scientific Atlant cable box (code 0477). A couple keymoves, nothing major. Learned what I needed and imported that stuff in KM (v8.07). Was feeling pretty good until I tried to paste the upgrade info into IR (v4.01).
Would not place anything into the Protocol ID field. The JP1 for beginners says it should do this automatically. Here is the upgrade info:

Upgrade Code 0 = 35 C5 (Cable/1477)
00 02 7E FE C9 27 8C 8C 07 87 47 BB 7B E3 D3 37
63 C3 53 23 33 43 13 33 73 B3 93
KeyMoves
0C F3 35 C5 F3 0B F3 35 C5 6F 0D F3 35 C5 EF 25
F3 35 C5 F7 26 F3 35 C5 0F 27 F3 35 C5 8F 28 F3
35 C5 9F
End

You might notice I changed the first digit in the code with a '1'. I tried it as 0477, and as 1477. Neither worked. I hope I am doing something really stupid and easy to fix.
Thanks for any help.

The above upgrade pasted just fine for me.

It sounds like you are trying to add it as a Protocol rather than as a Device.

Did you go to the Devices tab, then click the add button, and then paste into the top textarea?

That solved it!
I must have *accidentally* hit the Protocol tab. I was getting bleary eyed reading the "War and Peace" that is JP1 for beginners.
Thanks for your keen eyes!
