Another use for the Wii IR receiver?

Post by DavidEC2955 »

Can the ir receiver for the Nintendo wii be used as a ir receiver for such devices as the 'Xantech IR Distribution System" ??

This 'Nintendo' device does not seem to be effected by "Plasma" TV's!

And is really low cost also. (but I don't want to damage mine if it has already been reported that it does not work!)

I have done a limited number of searches but might be using the wrong key words.

So some reason my IR receiver (I think that my current ""CONE"" is gong bad!) has started 'flickering'!! and it seems that some other replacements could be come expensive for one that is rated for "Plasma TV"

Are you talking about the wii sensor bar? It is not an IR receiver. It has IR emitters in it. The IR sensors are in the Wii controllers, which communicate with the Wii by Bluetooth.
