Radio shack Camelion 6 15-2133 & Sony / liteon

Post by fog »

Well

First off thank you for this site and for all you make it.

I apologize that I was not able to find answers to all my questions in about 5 days of reading through the site (very big and informative)

So here is my situation...

Sony DAV-c770 Dream System
LVC-9016g Light on DVD/VCR Recorder
Radio Shack 15-2133 remote

Being that the remote can only remember about 25 keys I am about 6 keys away from being able to remember all the keys I need. (without having the original codes for the devices)
Being that I have found no codes that work yet.

I would love a code that would work for one of these (which would give me enough keys to manually program )

*I tried to set my Sony to JP1 and not JP2 (but was unable to find a specific command for the model . I don’t even know if I need to do it with this model)

I am also interested in learning about the JP1 link. However, the remote I have simply has 6 holes in it and I have yet to fully understand what I need to plug into it to link to it. And then how to work the programming.

Well thank you for your time in reading this any help available would be appreciated.

fog,
your post really belongs in the code search area, or at least needs to be posted with the code search template.

I found that we have an upgrade for the
Sony DAV C770

But since I don't know what the LiteOn device is, I am not sure if we might have something similar or not, and the forum really needs to be hand searched since our user's tend to spell liteOn in many different ways.

It looks like you don't have a JP1 cable, but since you have a modem upgradable remote you can still use the upgrade to replace all the keys you learned from the Sony.

You'll need to download a few tools from the main tools area.

You'll need RM and Java and IR and the RDF's and Images and IR2WAV. Looks like you are going to be in for a bit more reading.

You open the upgrade in RM
Change it to your rs 15-2133 remote.
Open IR, and set the directories
Change to the rs 15-2133
copy the upgrade from RM and paste it into RM
then create a WAV file of the upgrade area only
set up your remote to be listening for an upgrade
play the upgrade
then set a device to control it.
Remember to provide feedback to let us know how the problem was solved and share your upgrades.

Tip: When creating an upgrade, always include ALL functions from the oem remote, even if you never plan on assigning them to a button. Complete function lists makes an upgrade more helpful to others.

Moving Forward and a couple of other questions

Post by fog »

Wow thank you for your very quick response.

And for showing me the building blocks for programing my remote.

I have a couple of extra questions.

1. Since my remote is upgradeable by modem, does it have a firmware update it needs?

2. I notice in RM that my remote has a lot of different options .5K - 4K Does this matter? and how do I tell what remote I Have?

3. One thing I have not yet found is codes for projectors I have a Inficus LitePro 580 I would also like to control.

4. I have yet to find data on how to prepare my remote to listening for codes. Could you point me toward something to help me there?

Thank you again

This is like Digital Christmas :) how much fun, thanks for the help.

There is an upgrade for the Lite-On LVC-9016g in the File Section under DVD/VCR combos. It shows that the protocol is JVC device 239. However, the 2133 doesn't have that protocol with the correct EFCs. So you'll need to include that in your modem upgrade, or manually enter the critical keys by keymove, using video 0558 or 0623.

The InFocus LP580 was actually manufactured by Epson as the ELP-3300, according to this site. The examples of Epson projectors here are all NEC2 131,85. This is also not in the 15-2133. But probably one of the upgrades here will work with your projector

So you need to make 3 upgrades in RM, paste them all into IR, and then make the .WAV file.

No

I think you noticed that in IR, not RM, but it does matter. If you get it wrong, your remote won't work, but you can still do a reset to restore the remote to the way it came from the factory and start over.
4. I have yet to find data on how to prepare my remote to listening for codes. Could you point me toward something to help me there?
Here is the procedure for getting your remote ready to listen

As Vicky has implied, the memory size of the remote isn't important to RM. However, it is important for IR.exe to correctly place the data into memory. The two programs share RDF files, and so RM ends up displaying memory size in the remote selector, but any memory size 2133 RDF will work in RM.

If you don't know the memory size, you should start by using IR to only export an upgrade-- no keymoves, macros, etc. Export via the File menu. All of the 2133s have the same starting address for upgrades. Then the only danger is that if you have a 0.5KB remote, there is only 250 bytes of space available! But probably your remote has a bigger memory.

Thank you and Multiple upgrades

Post by fog »

Thank you so much

This is more than I could have ever expected with help and communication, what a site. Thank you again.

Ok just a few more questions if you have a moment...

1. I understand i need about 3 updates. can these be combined? Should they be combined? (I would rather make 3 wav files for individuals who have some of the same products as me)

2. If they do need combining how would I go about combining them?

Thanks again

1) You'll need to create 3 device upgrades,
2) paste each device upgrade into IR (and any protocol upgrades RM tells you are required)
3) From IR you make one wav file of the UPGRADES that combines all three devices. This WAV file will overwrite the whole upgrades area, so if you ever did a phone upgrade that will be lost doing this process.
4) you'll now assign these devices to the keys the same way you assign a built-in device.

Making Sense :) but Wave transfer problems

Post by fog »

Wow

Again thanks. After a little bit of reading these programs are making some sense.

I even learned how to make a way (thanks again)

However whenever I try to upload my wav to the device it comes back on line a second or two before the wav is done playing.

I get the 2 led confirm blink but the remote does not work for any of the devices.

Any idea why this is occurring?

I am using Kamelion 1 settings in RM do I need to experiment with others?

Can I tell how much memory is in my remote by opening it up. (I have already removed the shaker sensor, thanks to this site) so I am not scared of opening it up

Any help would be appreciated.

p.s. I am pretty sure that my IR setting are correct

thanks again

Internal info on remote

Post by fog »

Maybe this will help with my last post.

I opened up the remote and found the following numbers

8060-0030001 Rev 01
URC-11-8060-b00/b01 UEIS-10179

Perhaps this can help resolve the upload error

By the way my IR file is here if you want to look at it (sorry i don't know how to add stuff to forums so I put it on my web site)

http://www.c-fastest.com/data/

Thank again for your help

I don't know what the problem is, but please post your *.wav file. Maybe it didn't turn out right.

Uploaded wav

Post by fog »

Ok

Wav now located at

http://www.c-fastest.com/data/

Thanks again for the help

also included a drag and drop created wav called upgrade

Very different from the one in IR (much longer and gives the long single error blink on remote when done)

Not sure what's up with the double-blink before the wav has completed playing, but it would suggest that SOMETHING is being accepted into the remote's upgrade area. However, even if an upgrade is being accepted into the upgrade area of RAM, you still have to ASSIGN that upgrade to a device button. If your wav file is "upgrade only", it does not automatically do that. You will have to assign the newly-loaded upgrades manually, just like you should have previously assigned any built-in setup codes to device keys.

The WAV file is a complete image of the 1KB. It has keymoves, 3 upgrades and 1 protocol upgrade. I've looked at the upgrade and protocol parts as read back from the WAV file, and they seem to match the original IR file.

However, I wasn't able to import, read or merge the WAV file back into IR-- it gives an error for an unrecognized block. Maybe that's my incompetence, or perhaps there's something awry with the WAV file.

I recommend making a single upgrade with no keymoves, and to export that upgrade only--not the whole image. Try to load that into the remote: let's do baby steps first.

ETA: the image is 1 byte too long, and following the last data block there are bytes that I don't recognize as valid parts of a WAV file.
