Help Sling my PS3

Post by Sling_My_PS3 »

Hi All,

I have a scenario invlolving my SlingBox Pro and my PS3.

Before you think, "WHY do I want to Sling my PS3" - well the reason would be because I have managed to via the PS3's media server, connect the PS3 within my home network to a dedicated "media data store" (500GB) - hence I can successfully view images, videos, and listen to my enitre music archive through my PS3............... so basically If I can sling this and REMOTE CONTROL the PS3 then that would be OUTSTANDING!!!!

If anyone is interestested in this PS3 arrangement then here's how http://boardsus.playstation.com/playsta ... d.id=45512

Also you may be aware that the PS3 has no IR port, it uses BlueTooth via it's gaming and dvd remotes. However I have sourced the solution, which is a dedicated InfraRed to BlueTooth converter for the PS3 ( http://www.schmartstuff.com/ps3irpr3.html ).

Whereby this module is "Fully compatible with the standard PS2 IR commands (PS3 color keys are mapped to unused PS2 codes);"

Here is my setup:

So I have connected to the back of my SlingBox my Sky box and my PS3.

Currently I can view both channel inputs both on SlingPlayer desktop and SlingPlayer Mobile (for cell phones.)

SlingPlayer came with the Sky remote codes built in - which is sweet, as the Sky remote on both desktop and on Mobile works a treat.

So basically what I need is guidance or a solution whereby:
1] I'd need to get or create the PS2 remote codes.
2] Save down the necessary bin file for SlingBox (my knowledge may be shady here)
3] And save this bin file down into the SBAV directory in the SlingPlayer software on my desktop.
4] And then assign this code to the appropriate PS3 input via SlingPlayer.
5] If that works for the desktop SlingPlayer, how do I get the Mobile SlingPayer to sync with these settings, or does this update occur during initiations between the SlingBox and the Mobile SlingPlayer.

I appreciate this is a long and quite bespoke scenario.

But hey, If we can get this to work - how beautiful would it be to be able to remotely control your PS3's Media Archive from anywhere in the world, particularly via your Windows Mobile Phone.

Thanks all.

Here is a device upgrade for the PS2. Read the first sticky post in this (Sligbox) forum, download the appropriate software referenced therein, and then open the linked upgrade in RM, change the remote type to your version of the Slingbox, and generate the BIN file you need.
Beginners - Read this thread first

Who is the best broadband provider that works with the ps3? I want to go on the internet with my ps3 (for the playstation store etc...) and im wondering who would be the best broadband company to go with. I'm also going to use the broadband for my pc. I've already tried virgin media and be broadband.
I'd also like it if it was wireless aswell. Thanks a million!
