Well I just tried the number from hamsnbit to get an upgrade for my 2 Radio Shack remotes and well the answering machine on the line said there is no phone upgrade for my remote. I tried the number twice and get the same message?? I called Universal directly and they gave me another number and it does not work either??
What gives on this product. I love it but I have new equipment and do not have coeds to make them work. I am really trying to control my directv HDH21 receivers but with no luck.
My one system has RCA HD50LPW42 DLP TV
Onkyo TxDS-7887 receiver
Sony DVP-NC85 DVD
Directv HD-H21 sat receiver
the other has
Proview RX326 TV
Sony STR-K840P receiver
Directv HD-H21 sat receiver
Any ideas???
Thanks in advance

Any ideas? Well, the best idea is for you to get a JP1 cable, then you'll never have to worry about phone numbers and missing codes again.

Re:Kameleon 15-2138 remote upgrade
My sentiments exactly. I am tired of chasing around looking for help from the manufacturers. AS an electrical engineer I should be able to figure this out. I Got remote Master and now I need to find out what an RDF file is as it keeps complaining that it cannot find one to get started.
What do you use to program your remotes?? Also how do people create the wav files to program the remotes using the acoustic coupler built into the remote control??

An RDF is a "Remote Definition File", it's where we store everything that we know about a remote. These files are used both by RM (the program that you use to edit upgrades) and IR (the program that you use to upload to and download from your remote).
If you get a JP1 cable, you won't need to worry about WAV files. If you don't get a cable, you can create WAV files using the IR program.
Some light reading for you...

If you don't have any RDF files, you didn't follow the installation instructions.

15-2138 Wav file update
Does anyone know what key strokes need to be done on the RS 15-2138 remote to get it to accept updates thru the phone? I am playing around with my unit and decided to try wav files first before I go and modify the unit for direct connection.

This thread describes the modem upgrade procedure for several remotes. The 15-2138 is not listed, but you might want to try.
