sharp lcd discrete on/off

Hi,
I have a URC-9910B00. I programmed it with this file.

It said that it supported discrete on/off but I can not figure out how. It controls my TV sharp 42inch lcd but I can not figure out how to get the discrete on/off and the shifted keys to work. I tried a lot of combinations of button presses with no luck. I am wondering if I need a different remote or something else.

From that upgrade, discrete on/off are OBC 074 and 075 respectively. In KM, can see that this is their values on the "functions page". don't forget to set your remote type on the setup page.

You have several choices of how to assign these discretes:
1) on the Buttons page, assign them to an unused key
2) create a keymove for the function
3) in IR, you can create the keymove directly, since you know the OBC's above.

For 1 and 2, you need to copy the upgrade/keymove code and add the device (device tab) in IR. Then assign this device to a key so you can select the upgrade.

The simplest thing for testing is 1). Then you can see if it really works.

In an un-extended remote, shifted numeric buttons (0-9) are done by pressing the SETUP button twice and then pressing the desired numeric button (i.e. SETUP-SETUP-1).

In cases like this, I think it's useful to figure out exactly what the problem is by a process of elimination. In other words, is it a problem with the discrete codes or a problem with shifted keys? Therefore, you should assign the discrete functions to regular buttons (like CH+ and CH-, etc) and test them, if they don't work, fair enough, but if they do you have eliminated the codes themselves as the problem and you won't distract people by having them research that.

All of you are right. I moved the discrete to a different key and it worked then I tried the setup setup 1 and that worked also. I think I am all set for now. Thank you all very much. You are allowing me to make a $40 remote do what a $300 remote does. I love it.

Hi,

I have done most of my programming with success. Now I am trying to use the RF repeater that came with this remote. It seems that the onkyo receiver codes that I programmed with JP1 do not get transmitted correctly through the RF interface. Does anyone know of a remote (with JP1) that has RF capability that would work? I am looking for something less expensive than a pronto solution that costs $300.

How did you come to that conclusion? I assume your remote works the Onkyo just fine when you use it directly. How did you set things up to use the RF portion? For example, did you position the command center in front of the Onkyo or did you use the IR blaster cable? When you tested the remote, how far away from the command center were you?

Once you determined that the RF feature wasn't working with the Onkyo, did you try it with anything else?

Sorry for the lack of details.

With remote directly everything is good.

I put blocked the IR on the remote and made sure it would not control the devices directly. I used the RF unit holding it with my hand in front of the Sat. Everything worked fine (my wife ran the remote). Then I held the RF unit in front of the Onkyo. Sometimes it would work and sometimes not. It was not consistent one thing that I noticed is that when you hold down the volume up (or down) it would not repeat. It just did it once and then would not go up higher. I held the RF unit up close (up to 3") and far away 3'. I also tried the same thing with the RF blaster....

So the RF works with your SAT but not the Onkyo, at least not consistently. That's a pity. However, you might be able to improve the performance of your box, if you don't mind getting your hands dirty.

One other quick suggestion, your Onkyo might have a IR in jack on the back, if so use that with a 2.5mm (9910box) to 3.5mm (Onkyo) MONO cable to see if it works better (usually does for me).

Oh and are you trying to use the little flasher or the actual box as the flasher? I have found replacing the original flasher might work better.....say maybe a dual mouse emitter (note, you will need a 2.5 to 3.5mm adapter probably) one for the Onkyo, one for the Sat.

The 9910's do in general work RF with the Onkyo's at least so far. Just wish they were still available.
