URC 9800B00 upgrade for address code 2 on Dishnetwork 301

Post by turk »

Code:
1. Device: Dishnetwork 301
2. Type of device: Satellite receiver
3. Year: 2005
4. JP1/UEI Remote model: URC-9800B00
5. Do you have a JP1 cable? Yes
6. Still have original remote? Yes
7. Checked the file section? Yes
8. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? Yes
9. Partially working setup code? NO
10. Learning remote question? No
I have found some files that may work but I know this remote uses a different chipset than the newer remotes. Also none specifically list address 2

The 301 upgrades in the file section all use the Dishnetwork Protocol, which in KM and RM has a selection on the General Settings page where you can select the address desired (0 through 31).

This is available for the 9800 just as well as for any other remote you select.

It doesn't matter what remote it's for. You open the upgrade in KM or RM and change the remote to whatever remote you want.

Unit code is the same as address.

Device code is the code you set the device key in the OFA code to.

Now, you could make separate device codes fro different unit codes, as I did.

Classicsat, you're confusing the issue a little bit. What you are talking about as "Device Code" is what is referred to in JP1 as the "Setup Code". You are correct that you can select any number you want (as long as it does not conflict with any other "Setup Code" that you are using in your remote).

Turk is asking about the Dish Network protocol, which on its Setup page requires you to provide a "Device Code" and a "Unit Code" - NEITHER of which is the "Setup Code".

The "Device Code" should match what you have in your other Dish upgrade, regardless of "Unit Code" (or "address"). The only numbers that you should vary are the "Unit Code" and "Setup Code" but NOT the "Device Code".
