need help with oddball remotes added to extender

Post by rocket777 »

I have a URC 9910 which I've some time ago upgraded to an extender. I have the old pre-extender file. I reloaded the original pre-extend file, and learned 4 keys from 2 remotes. It did work, but inside ir.exe, I'm not sure DecodeIR (or the default) is decoding these correctly.

I uploaded the .ir file here https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=5563

It's the last 4 learned, all on the cd key

The first device is a FAN, I only need the on and off keys, which it learned. Here's what IR/decodeIR (version 2.31) has to say:

fan: windchaser ensr163d

# prot dev sub OBC HEX EFC misc

1 nec1 0 (no sub) 20 D7 116
1 nec1 0 (no sub) 0 FF 181

My second device is a video switcher from RCA (vh-915-av and I downloaded a file from here for that remote but don't rememeber what to do with that file), it decodes two keys identically (but they do work so they must be different)

1 Old Panasonic 31 (no sub) 63 (FF or FD or FE) (181 or 165 or 189 )
1 Old Panasonic 31 (no sub) 63 (FF or FD or FE) (181 or 165 or 189 )

I learned these on the cd key, as rew,ffwd, power, and down, which is where I want these.

It's been a while since I did any of this. How do I proceed. Is there a better way to do this now, I'm running with ir.exe v6.20/ decodeIR 2.31 I'm using urc-9910_8910 Extender 1 (CPT0CPx1)

Thw "better way" whenever you have learned button decode questions is to upload your IR file with the learned keys to the diagnosis area of the files section and provide a link to that file here in your thread (with sufficent description in the IR file and/or in the post). Then somebody can take a look at it.

ok, I'm half way there

I found and installed a device upgrade for my rca vid switcher. That was easy once I remembered all the steps.

Now the hard part.

I've still not figured out how to get a device upgrade (or make one) for the fan. I was trying to figure out how to use KM, but I don't think IR is telling me enough about the key it learned.

Of course if there were already a device upgrade for this fan, I'd use it.

Any help would be appreciated. The first post has a link to the ir file I saved after learning the codes for the fan.

I'm glad you found an upgrade for that vid switcher, because those "Old Panasonic" decodes are totally wrong. I wouldn't have known any easy way to build an upgrade.

But I don't understand the problem with the fan. I don't see anything wrong with those decodes. It should be easy to make a full upgrade, or if you prefer just select an existing setup code for NEC1 device 0, and define keymoves.

As John said, (and you showed in you first post with the decode data) you have all you need.

Protocol = NEC1
Device=0
SubDevice=<blank>

These data go on the Setup page in RM or KM.

Then on the Functions page, you delete any pre-existing undefined functions and add:
ON:OBC=20
OFF:OBC=0

Assign them to buttons on the Buttons or Layout pages, and copy your upgrade to IR for your remote.

got it, how do I delete the upload .ir file now

Post by rocket777 »

Hi, I found that the Robman had created an upgrade for another fan (Hawaiian Breeze fan) that seems the same, and I got it to work.

It's this one here
https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=3440

So, I'm all fat dumb and happy, but I read that I should delete the file I uploaded - should I? and I can't see how to do it.

thanks for all the help
