am rcving an error when attempting to download codes from a comcast remote...
failed to open jp1.2 interface
drivers work sometimes and not others...so im quite confused as to hwat is going on...

Please Help!!

so i figured out the driver prob and it now says that my drivers and usb are functioning properly...but when attempting to read from remote or check interface it still gives me the error of "failed to open jp1 interface"

It might help if you specify what sort of JP1 cable you are using. Unless you have one of Tommy Tyler's new fancy USB cables, the only JP1.2 cables are serial. Therefore it's likely that you are using a serial cable with a serial-to-USB adapter, and the drivers that you mention would be for the adapter, not the cable.

Of course, that's an awful lot of guess work on my part.

I am using one of the USB ones off of the DIY site...

This is the cable with the flat wire on the remote side with the grey box and the usb cable on the computer side..

That's a JP1 cable, not a JP1.2 cable, it doesn't work with JP1.2 remotes.

oh...well that sucks!!!!! so i need the one with the serial port??
