What is best universal JP1 to buy?

Post by burchis »

I am searching which remote to start with. I want the ability to program discrete codes. I am looking at the URC8910 which I can get off of ebay. I believe this model has the 6 pin connector installed, can someone confirm this? I have seen a lot of forum threads mentioning this remote. Would this be the best choice in todays market?

It's a bit like buying a car.; whatever you get is likely to be a compromise in some way. I'd like a Ferrari but I'd have to sell the kids for medical research (they wouldn't fit in the back anyway). I'd like a Toyota land Cruiser but it's too thirsty and petrol is £1.05 per litre (gas is $9 a gallon). The 8910 does all you want, has a backlight and a clock but is a bit heavy. The 8820 is smaller but doesn't have a backlight. The Atlas remotes are raved about by some as they do everything and have a backlight but I think they're a funny colour and shape. You won't go wrong with the 8910, however, and you can always sell it again if you find something that suits you better. All the remotes mentioned here will cope with discrete codes, macros etc.
