Program Dream V4 remote with codes downloaded from OFA 7950?

This is the JP1 beginners forum. There's no such thing as a stupid question in here, so post away, but this forum is just for JP1 users and people considering JP1, non-JP1 users please use the appropriate forum above!

Program Dream V4 remote with codes downloaded from OFA 7950?

Post by Dreamzapper »

I am afraid I haven't got much of a grasp of JP1 technology, but I hope my question is reasonable:

I have all the codes I need in a 7950 remote, and would like to be able to transfer some of them into the Dream V4 remote.

But is that really doable, at least without a lot of detailed info that I do not have?

I can read macros and learned codes on the 7950 - but is it possible just to use the edit function in ir and enter the same codes?

A minimum requirement would of course have to be that the hex to ir signal translation would have to be identical?

The raw data on one of the 7950 buttons looks like this:

16 20 26 00 D3 04 00 27 5D 84 04 03 0D 7A 01 14
03 43 01 14 01 19 23 01 22 23 33 33 22 23 33 33
22 33 33 23 33 22 22 32 20

It is identified as #1, 7,7, 67,3D, 177 for a Samsung TV Code 0618

Would it work the same if I put it in a button on the Dream V4?

Are you talking about copying a learned signal from one remote to another, or about copying a raw device upgrade?

Copying a learned signal may work, assuming the target remote supported learned signals. Easiest way to know is to try.

You can't just copy a raw device upgrade from one remote to another.

However, you can use RM's Import Raw Upgrade feature (under the Advanced menu). Once you've done that, you should be able to change the remote in RM as you would for any upgrade.

I haven't had problems copying raw learned data between remotes that have a learning section.

Since the URC-39930 Dreambox V4 has TV/0618 built-in, you can also use a Keymove.

Select the KeyMoves Tab,
Click Add button
Choose which Bound device mode TV/DREAM/AUX and which Bound key you'd like to have this function.
In the Function to Perform area, the Device Type should be TV, Setup Code should be 0618.
The EFC/Hex Cmd: should be 00171. The EFC/Hex Cmd/Key radio buttons should only have EFC selected.
You can add a small note in the Note section describing what this function does.
Click OK button.

You should see the KeyMove Entry as you specified with Hex Cmd column as $3D $AB and EFC or Key Name column as 00171.

^^That's how i've always done it. I have an old Cinema7 that I keep around specifically to learn codes and then copy as necessary.

N/A is displayed only if TV/0618 is not assigned to a device button. You probably don't have TV/0618 assigned to a device mode(TV,AUX,DREAM) button.

You should upload your .IR file as there may be other things that are overriding the keymove.

Your Bound Device and Bound Key(or Shifted Key if box is checked) is whatever you chose in the KeyMoves Tabsheet when you added/edited this keymove entry.

It may be easier for you to just copy over the raw learned data.

It doesn't look correct to me because the Setup Code should be 0618 on the Dreambox V4 remote. This is a built-in setup code for Device=7 Subdevice=7. You are using the built-in setup code to get Device=7 Subdevice=7 and then providing your own Hex Cmd.

Both of your codes, TV/0618 on the URC-7950 and the TV/0648 on the Dreambox V4 remote are NOT built-ins and should be listed in your .IR file.

Why do you care about learning components on the Dreambox V4? It has an area set aside for learning. All you have to do is

click the Learned Signals Tabsheet
Click Add button.
Pase into Data: Text box, the raw learned signals from the URC-7950.
Select Device: TV
Select Key: BACK(AV)
Click OK

You should now see NEC 7 7 67 3D 171 listed as the decoded signal.

Again, I thank you! Entering the raw data works fine!
I have some macros too on the 7950:

A/V = SAT;Skip_Forward
-/-- = TV;FF
TV = -/--
SAT = A/V

Works like:

A/V button flips the A/V function on the TV, and selects 7950 TV mode
-/-- button flips the Source function on the TV, and selects 7950 SAT mode
TV button 'pushes' the -/-- button
SAT button 'pushes' the A/V button

Net result is that pushing either TV or -/-- button will put 7950 in TV mode and flips (digital/analog input)

Pushing either SAT or A/V button puts 7950 in SAT mode and flips (EXT1/EXT2 input)

Thus, regardless of current 7950 mode and current TV input source, one keypress will select wanted modes, and a 2nd keypress will flip TV input source.

TV input sources: either TV/DTV - or EXT1/EXT2

Looking at the coding, it looks rather funny to me: Pushing the TV btn 'pushes' the -/-- btn - which in turn 'pushes' the TV btn, (and the FF btn) - but is there not a risk that this may create a loop? Can anyone comment on this, and maybe suggest a better approach for obtaining the same functionality? It works as intended on the 7950, but coding similar functions on the Dream V4 has not been successful.
