I bought a parallel cable from Rob and it works with the T43 I have using XP SP2. I had to change the Parallel Port to use IO Resource Range of 0378-0379 on the Resource Tab and enable legacy Plug and Play support under Port Settings tab of LPT1
Try that and see if it helps

Sorry to hear about the flood.
I would like to get a URC-8910 with a USB or some other cable interface to my Thinkpad 43p. I have the old parallel cable (which I used with my wonderful 15-2116), but it does not work with the TP43p.
If you tell me which cable I need and how much it costs, I shall send you the money by PayPal.
Although I am eager to get it, your flood recovery is, of course a higher priority.
Thanks-- |

Hi Rob ... is it possible to give us an estimate of how long it might be before you can start shipping some 8910's again?
Sorry to be a pain about it, I'd just rather give my money to you than someone else!
Cheers

I've been reluctant to re-open the shop because of the amount of my time that it takes up, but if you really want a remote, you can place an order and I'll fill it. I just can't promise that I'll be able to turn it around on the same day like I used to. _________________ Rob

OK, Thanks a lot Rob, I appreciate it.
Just to confirm ... am I correct with the following?
3 x URC8910 @ $19 = $57
International Shipping = $37 (New Zealand)
Paypal Charges = $4.50
TOTAL = US$98.50
If this is correct I can process a Paypal transaction straight away, but there's no hurry to dispatch the remotes. |

So, with the $26 you could have had from me, and the $26 you could have had from simon, that's a small fortune you're leaking here, Robert.
Charge for your services, man - the people here want to pay.

Yeah, I know, but the thing is, I was spending 45 minute or more every evening boxing up and shipping remotes and it's getting harder and harder to find that sort of time now, most of the evenings are spent helping the kids with their homework now.
But like I said, if the number of orders is kept low and people don't expect same day delivery like I was doing before, I can start filling orders. _________________ Rob

Hi Rob...
I came across this and thought of you. Not sure if you want to increase inventory.
Found a place selling 6130n's for $1 + $5 shipping. They're like woot. Sell a product for 24 hours or until they sell out.
You can get 5. So for $10, you can have 5 remotes shipped.

I'm still using my Replay's and Cinema 7s. It's been almost 10 years now. Thinking about trying MythTV as a backup.

I read that the URC-9964 are sold out.
Will you get new devices in the future?

There is a serial cable that will work with your JP1 remote, but you need to get or build the correct one. A JP1.x or JP1.2 serial cable won't work. Read this thread and look at this chart. _________________ Beginners - Read this thread first
