Radio Shack 15-2115?

Post by jayerndl »

What's the deal with this Radio Shack remote http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?c ... =15%2D2115. Does it have a JP1 connector? If not can one be added to it? It looks like a nice little remote with backlighting. Thanks.

As far as we know, it's not a JP1 remote. I think Rob has said it's not even made by UEIC.

Boy it sure looks like a UEIC remote. It even has a "P" and Scan/Fav buttons. I looked at the online manual and you "program" it the same way and it even uses the same device codes as the other RS/UEIC remotes. I wonder who does make it.

It's also possible (probable) I'm confused. I do know that's it's not JP1-able (IIRC, there's no provisions for either the JP1 connector or an EEPROM).

Also (as Steve usually points out ;) ), for an additional $5.00, you can get the 8810w at Wal-Mart that controls more devices, has more buttons, is JP1-able out of the box, and supports one of the best extenders going!

The 15-2115 is a UEI remote but it doesn't have any JP1 potential (as far as I know). It looks kinda like the 15-2103, but my guys at UEI tell me that it's pretty much the same as the "flag remote" under the covers, which we've already looked into and it definitely doesn't have any JP1 potential.

I don't believe that either remote has an EEPROM, nor an empty space for one, which pretty much kills any chance of JP1-ing it dead in the tracks.
