In one of the Olevia data sheets it lists a feature

"Separate and Hidden IR Remote Button Command for each input"."

This would be a blessing. Their customer support doesn't have a clue, beyond noting that there is documentation on discrete selection codes over the RS232 interface to the TV.

I was hoping to find the hiddent codes by experimentation. I noted the OBC's in the rdf file go from 0 to 43, with 11-14,30,33,34 missing. I tried adding those and a few more beyond 43 with no luck.

Am I on the right track? Has anyone found the hidden codes?

I was actually meaning to get back to that since I noticed in another thread on another forum that one of the Firmware updates specifically said it added more IR commands. Obviously this would be something that isn't on the original remote and discrete input and power buttons would be the most likely option for what the could have added.

on this after posting. It looks like all 256 OBC's have been explored. My set is newand has the latest firmware, but I didn't try all 256.

I looked at the RS232 codes, and its not very promising.

All the other remote commands are 10 bytes (5 substantive, and 5 padding). The input selections are only 6 bytes long (3 substantive, 3 padding). It does seem like they treat the device selection differently, so even if it is implemented for IR they could have used a different pattern than the rest.

I managed to update to the 061121B firmware this weekend. It was a pain. Had to get my girlfriend to bring over her laptop and fiddle with things at a couple points to get it to go through but it was worth it.

I was able to find the codes for discrete input switching for a couple of the inputs.

I was using the setup 5 digit EFC number to send the codes since thats what worked with my Jp1.2 atlas and known buttons from my existing upgrade. I am a little puzzled because I found multiple codes for each of the inputs I found so far. I haven't finished testing all the codes yet and haven't found discrete power codes or all the inputs yet but I've already found enough for it to be very useful for me.

The codes I did find.

Component 1 - 00037 and 00045
Component 2 - 00041 and 00049
VGA - 00039 and 00047
HDMI - 00038, 00040, 00046 and 00048

I also found a code that seem to take you into some sort of zoom mode. That was code 00026 and 00034. It wasn't the standard zoom levels like panaramic, zoom 1, zoom 2, etc but instead gave a blue overlay like it wanted you to select an area of the picture to zoom in on.

I ran out of time to continue testing tonight but there are definitely codes for discrete input selection after updating the firmware. Once I have actually finished my testing and created an upgrade I'll update my upgrade in the files section.[/list]

OK I'm pretty sure I tested all 256 possible EFC codes and I managed to find discrete input codes for all but 1 input but I didn't find any discrete on or off. The VGA port can act as a third Component input and there is a VGA Component in the input cycle that I didn't find a direct code for. A macro that does VGA and then the input cycle button once should work just fine for that so it's not a major issue.

Once again they almost all have multiple codes that worked and I even found the same was true for some of the normal buttons on the remote.

Composite 1 - 00164 and 00172
Composite 2 - 00168 and 00176
S Video 1 - 00166 and 00174
S Video 2 - 00170 and 00178
Component 1 - 00037 and 00045
Component 2 - 00041 and 00049
VGA - 00039, 00047, 00101, 001019, 00232 and 00240
HDMI - 00038, 00040, 00046 and 00048
Tuner - 00056, 00064, 00167, 00171, 00175 and 00179

No there's at least one obvious pattern to this in that you always have a pairing of x and x+8 and for most of the inputs that is all you have. For the VGA, HDMI and Tuner tho you have multiple sets like that.

Any educated guesses from the experts out there on why this is and what the best code to use is? The all seem to work reliably but it seems kinda strange that they would implement this many different codes for each feature when just a single one would do.

It might be more illuminating if you put all of these data in a single Olevia upgrade and examine any OBC patterns.

You do get a better pattern in OBC (usually does, as Capn Trips suggests)

That does seem to fit. I tried converting them to OBC when I found the first couple codes but didn't have enough of them to make out any definite pattern. I'll definitely go back and retest 75, 76 and 79 and see if I find any hits.

Which Olevia model and firmware do you have? Mine is a 532H B12 running A33-10 firmware which is the latest I can find for my model.

I tried the codes you found and they don't do anything on my set.

I did go ahead and test all 256 OBC's and the only non standard ones I found were

127 a power toggle duplicating 0
144 last channel duplicating 24
208 channell down duplicating 21

and 191 which puts up a factory setting menu.

I have a 537h which is a very different set (different processors running the panel) with the firmware 061121B which in the firmware notes says it added more IR commands.

I'd check to make sure you have the latest version of the firmware and if you don't update it. I had done some minor testing previously and definitely tested the OBC 13 which previously didn't switch directly to tuner.

The Olevia tv's are kinda confusing on what is similar to what.

All the 3xx series are HD Monitors and use the Pixelworks chipset.

The 2xx, 4xx and 5xx series are all very similar for the same sizes.

The 27 and 32 inch are similar and use the ATI chipset. EG the 232 and 532 are almost identical tv's.

The 37 inch + are similar and use the MTK processor.

The 7 Series TV's are the premium line and use a Reon chipset in them which is suppose to be really good.

Retested OBCs 75, 76 and 79 but didn't find anything I missed the first time.
