8910 Extender questions/issues

Post by Zellarman »

I've installed the extender on my remote and almost have it functioning fully as intended. As of yet, I'm sure by most standards it's a very simple setup, I was forced into it by lack of upgrade space as opposed to doing it for additional options. Anyway, in an effort to keep my wife from killing me, the HT functions shouldn't change.

The problem - the extender doesn't have a HT device. Fot the most part, my pre-extender HT setup had all functions from the SAT w/ exception of vol which were TV commands, and 2 functions on my L1 and L4 buttons from a custom (thanks Robman) logical device for my lights. My extender is duplicating everything except the L1 and L4 functions when in HT, it uses the SAT L1 and L4 instead, as it should because I set up the keysets that way. I thought I could create an additional logical device combining keymoves from SAT and the custom lighting device on whichever keyset the L1 L2 buttons are assigned to in the extender, then assigning that keyset to the HT button.

The question - what keyset are L1, L2 ... assigned to?

Yeah, I went through this years ago when I noticed that the 8910 extender readme didn't accurately reflect the 8910 keysets (I think the readme was taken from a different extender readme and was not closely edited).

Anyways, I'm 99.44% sure that the M and L keys are in the "Other" set.

Thanks Capn, you were right, the 'L' buttons are 'other'

Now my problem is that I can't assign a keyset to a virtual device, I'm guessing this is something inherent in the extender and not something I'm doing wrong
