Major Problem

Post by Ghost117 »

Ok, I just got my remote and I thought I had the update all set up to play for my remote and I did. It didn;t work the first time, but the second time it said success.

Then I went over to my TV and tried it. Nothing happened, I switched to AMP mode and tried it nothing happened. THe only thing that worked was the control for my xbox 360.

I dont know what the problem is. I checked the code set feature on the remote and it turned out that the wrong codes were set even though I told IR which codes to set to which buttons. I tried entering the codes manually and it said code not found.

I seriously dont know what to do now... The only problem I found in IR after going over everything with a fine toothed comb is that my TV code is actually set to DVD for some reaon so its DVD/1422. So I would understand if the TV didnt work but my amp doesnt either, which disterbs me.

Thanks for any help you could give me in advance. Is there somewhere where I can post my IR file for you guys to look at?

Also, If I try to install a new upgrade, will it override my old one, or do I have to delete it somehow, if so how?

Thanks,

Explain what you did exactly, are you still loading upgrades using WAV files? If you have an IR file for us to look at it, please load a copy of it in the Diagnosis Area folder in the file section, then post a link here.

Evrytime you load a new WAV file into the Upgrade memory of your remote, it will overlay *ALL* upgrades that you have loaded previously, so if you are still using the WAV method, you will need to maintain an IR file that contains *ALL* of your upgrades and create a WAV file that contains everything everytime that you want to load something new.

1) Files for us to look at should be posted in the diagnosis area and then URL(s) to the files should be posted back here.

2) When discussing use of .wav, you need to be specific about which .wav option you used (just the upgrade area, the whole eeprom, or what?)

Things on the setup sheet of IR.exe (such as which setup code is selected for each device) are in the settings portion of the eeprom, and not loaded unless you do a .wav for or including the settings portion.

Depending on your choice of keys in creating an upgrade, the upgrade as transferred from RM to IR may include some Keymoves. Those Keymoves go in the kemoves section of the eeprom, not the upgrade section, so they would be skipped if you made a .wav file for just upgrade.

Here.

This is my final file that I made into a WAV. I used the "entire upgrade" option.

So just to be clear. WHen I load an improved version of the update onto my device useing a wav file, if will overwrite EVERYTHING that was in the old update, including the macros, keymoves, protocols, etc... right?

Ok, update.

I changed the TV code to TV/1422 instead of DVD/1422 and the TV works now, but only with the codes that were in the original WAV file that OFA sent me. None of the advanced codes OFA sent me worked. So not I have VERY limited functionality of my TV and My Sony AMP doesnt work at all still. It still says code not found.

ALso, none of my macros or keymoves work either.

I think I did something really wrong but I dont know what...

Thanks

Take a look at the General tab in IR with your file, what codes do you have assigned to the TV, VCR, CD and AUX buttons? You have setup code 0000 assigned to each of these buttons, which I'm guessing is not the code that you want to use.

In the Devices tab of IR you can see that you have 4 upgrades included:

tv/1422 - not assigned
amp/0851 - not assigned
tv/2003 - assigned to SAT button
dvd/2000 - assigned to DVD button

As you can see, 2 of the 4 codes are un-assigned to device buttons and you won't be able to use them until you assign them to device buttons.

The RCVR button is assigned code amp/0815, which I'm guessing is a typo of amp/0851, which explains why that one isn't working.

The CBL button is assigned code dvd/1422, which I'm guessing is a typo of tv/1422, which explains why that one isn't working.

You need to understand that if you load the entire IR file as a WAV file, the entire IR file needs to be correct. When you assign an invalid code to a device button, the remote will reject it and replace it with the default code for that button.

THakn you Rob.

Ive been playing around wiht it for the last hour and found everything you found except for the misstype on the RCVR. And that was the only MAJOR thing that wasn't working.

I already got the TV to work and found why the Macros and keymoves were not working, because they were not loaded into IR.

BUt now that I loaded them into IR they STILL dont work even after I upgraded my remote with the new WAV file.

Ill try to change the mistype and upgrade again but i doubt that will fix the TV macro.

Here is my new and imrpoved IR file. This takes into accound everything Rob Said and I found myself.

Also, Rob I am using the TV and AUX buttons as macros.

With this setup, I get basic functionality from each device but none of the keymoves work, which are very important. Also, my macros dont work either, and for some reason the only thing I would get my AMP to do is to turn on and off, the volume control, which is the whole point of it, doesnt work.

Thanks

EDIT: I tried using the volume control my typing in the EFC code strait into the remote after hitting setup and it worked, also, all of the keymoves work too that way but none of these things work from the buttons they are suposed to be mapped to.

EDIT 2: After setting up Volume punch through to the Amp It controls volume now and the other functions work too, but... the keymove for switching audio imput modes from the amp to the TV still doent work as well as any other keymoves or macros.

You are using the RDF for the extender, but your not using the actual extender. One of the first things that all the extenders do is relocate the keymove/macro section to somewhere else, so all those keymoves and macros that you have programmed are not getting stored in the area where the remote is currently looking for them.

Please advise whether it was your intent to use the extender or not, as that would guide any further advice that we might have.

In IR, select the rdf for the UNextended remote.

(that means go to File>New>Select and choose the FIRST rdf in the list that starts with "URC-8910(old)_9910(old)_8910(new)_9910(new.....". If you select in turn EACH of those two files whose name looks the same and click on "Information about selected RDF" you will see the difference in names)

THEN add all of your upgrades, keymoves and macros.

It also uses a different signature, so a wav upgrade shouldn't be accepted at all by the remote.

But obviously the remote is accepting his WAV files as he's getting some response, which kinda rings a bell in that I think only the first 4 chars of the sig are used for WAV upgrades.

Hmmm... interesting point.

(But did you notice that the sig of his INCORRECT file from above was CPT0CP:1 as opposed to CPT0CPx1 which is the extender sig? So he had somehow changed it anyways - which would have no effect on wav upload per your comment regardless.)
