Philips LCD TV 15pf9936

Post by Steve Morehouse »

1. Device: Philips 15pf9936
2. Type of device: TV
3. Year: 2003
4. JP1/UEI Remote model: OFA 8910
5. Do you have a JP1 cable? Yes
6. Still have original remote? No
7. Checked the file section? Yes
8. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? N/A
9. Partially working setup code? Yes, TV/0054
10. Learning remote question? n/a

Does anyone have a Philips 15pf9936/37 LCD TV/Monitor? Since I don’t have an OEM remote, I am trying to come closer to the proper remote codes than the One-For-All TV code 0054 offers. That code has the basics, but lacks a “menu item select” function, or a “move deeper into menu” function. (Also the proper "arrow right" and "arrow left" functions to increase/decrease menu values are also missing). These are essential in programming any settings from the remote. (The TV itself makes use of the channel and volume buttons for these functions). I have explored the RC-5xcombo codes in KeyMap Master, using a OFA 8910 remote, and tried a couple hundred combinations with no luck. I have found a couple of “advanced” functions that way (visual display settings & audio settings). But I have not yet come across the seemingly basic function codes I am looking for. (The One-For-All TV0054 codes do not provide these functions, nor do any of the separate “Device 0”, “Device1”, Device2”, or “Device3” codes I have tried. (All other basic functions already available in the TV0054 codes ARE available in what I have entered manually – mostly as “Device 0” codes).
Anyone with an actual remote for this TV who would like to identify & pass along the actual OBC, device, & unit numbers for these functions would be in my debt.

Thanks.

You claim that you have checked the file section. Have you actually tried any of the Philips TV upgrades there? Some are VERY robust and have LOTS of functions using the RC-5 protocol.

For example, try THIS ONE or THIS ONE.

Have you tried the other Official Phillips codes. I know that there are several device codes that share the same numbers set, but other keys like the arrows are different. Just because the 0054 worked, don't stop there. Check the rest of the official codes.

Thanks so much for your QUICK responses!

Success! Once again, I was too myopic (seeing only one Philips TV code listed in the OFA manual, I went right for the hands-on trials, instead of peering into other useable codes for this TV already in the remote). I was able to extract what I was lacking from another code, and gather all that I needed into one personalized codeset.

My brain just needed a kick-start. Three geniuses are better than one!

Steve,
If you have compiled all the relevant codes for your TV set, could you go ahead and create an upgrade for it and load it into the file section please, so that the next person who comes here looking for a code for this set, will be able to use it.

Thanks,
Rob
