Controlling Xbox360 with a URC-8910

Post by spciesla »

My normal DVD player (Toshiba) is starting to act up, so I thought I would trying using the Xbox360 to play DVDs. Is there a setup code for the 360 that works for all the simple commands (play/menu/ff etc.). I tried 0522 that I found on the setup codes page, but this didn't work. I'm kind of in a bind because we are having a babysitter this afternoon while we attend a wedding. Would like the kids to be able to watch a DVD.

Thanks,
Steve

Not yet. I was hoping that there was a simple setup code that I could use for running the dvd player. Is the Xbox360 special in that it doesn't use a standard setup?

Thanks,
Steve

What's your objection to using one of those upgrades?

According to the Manual and the OFA web download center there is no buuilt-in code for xBox control in the 8910. At the OFA download site, you get the following answer when you enter "8910" "DVD" and "xBox":
No Results From Search.
This Remote is UPGRADEABLE. Please CONTACT 330-405-8616 To get your remote reprogrammed for new devices and brands.
In fact, that's what you get for ANY remote model you enter, even the newest 10820 or Kameleon, so apparently OFA has not yet developed a device upgrade for the xBox. That's why Rob pointed you to those upgrades.
