Ok I want to edit a built in code:
Code 0775 for Echostar Reciever as well as Code 0150 for Mitsubishi Tv.
I need to know how to do this with IR, Keymap-Master, or RDF. Which one is easiest and how do i get the keymaps and what keys and the codes?
I worked through the Jp1 for begginers and nderstand how to do it if it is inside of Devices or Devices4 but how about something that is not in either?
Please do not say download this KM or this rdf, I realize there are those files out there. I would rather start from Scratch if someone could please lead me the way or shoot me over to a a good walk through...

There is nothing you want/need/ought to do to the rdf. That is based upon your 9910 and editing it will only make things not work correctly.
To "edit" a built-in code, you have to take (or make) a matching upgrade, using data either from an existing upgrade (which you do not want to do, apparently) or by learning all of the signals in that code - which you can learn from one 9910 to another, I suppose - but that doesn't really make a lot of sense when all of that data is available in other upgrades.
To truly build one from scratch, you learn your OEM remote signals into your 9910, download it to IR, read the decode info on the learned tab, and build your upgrade in KM or RM using that info (it may take a few iterations to get all of your OEM buttons learned, due to memory limitations for learning). The upgrade you consequently build will not be an "edit" of any built-in code, but may be eerily similar.
If you've read and understand the docs (as you imply) then you have all you need.
If it's a few buttons (<5-6) that you need to SUPPLEMENT a built-in code with, then learn those buttons, and you can use them as learned buttons, or you can download them into IR, decode them, and create Keymoves in IR using the decode EFCs, which wil likely save you some learning memory.

Well I totally understand where you are coming from. This stuff is fascinating and you want to get into it more. Its like an addiction.
You need some hands on experience.
Follow the advice you've received. Learn some keys, open either KM or RM and try to create your upgrade following the material you've read. I was actually panic strickened by having to do my first upgrade. I danced around it for 2 years before I actually got my hands dirty trying it. I found the tools to be very easy to use once I got up the nerve to use them. Km or RM will let you assign keys to the various setup. You then cut and paste the device upgrade in IR and voile you've got your remote set up the way you want.
Now for me, I didn't want to do all that work. I wanted to download this KMfile or that RMdu file, and then just have to work with the special keys for my remote. So I try lots of previously uploaded KM's and RM's before I go to the trouble of learning all of the keys from my original remote. The 975-learning process is one of my least favorite things to do.
The more you get into this, the more you'll find that you don't know. I had a huge struggle understanding the documentation. Its great documentation, its just SO much to learn. I know I read the documentation and I'd see acronym after acronym and I was going batty.
You'll feel elated when you get your remote just the way you want it. Its definately worth the trouble.

Yes Vicky that is what I am needing. oK through trial and error I did ge tthe info that I needed and figured it out.
Ok So is there anyway to extract the data for preprogrammed codes... For instance I need to edit code 0054 TV which is for Magnavox Tv. Most of the buttons in code 0054 is correct but I need to add some.. Is there anyway to get all the button codes out of the remote and then edit it to know the new codes or new setup and then reup under a new code. So I don't "Edit" the preprogrmmed code but I have the preprogrammed code reupped in an edited state?

The answer to this question is the answer that Capn Trips gave you above, ie
There are 4 or 5 Magnavox TV upgrades in the TV folder in the file section which you can download and try:
https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... &cat_id=23
This, one, in particular is for code TV/0054
https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=2557
There is no way to "read out" the built-in codes as you seem to want, other than what has been described.
Neither of the above methods are very arduous, though - if you follow the docs you'll be there in no time...

If you are basically happy with the built-in codes, then you can supplement them with Keymoves using Advanced Codes (EFCs). For the setup codes you have mentioned in this thread, there are lists of EFCs as follows:
SAT/0775
TV/0054
TV/0150
If you run out of Keymove space, then the methods described above will work to cram those extra functions into a device upgrade rather than taking up valuable (and in short supply) keymove memory.

The only way to
is to have TWO UEI remotes (at least one of which is JP1 capable), and LEARN the signals from one to the other (JP1-able one)and then decode the learns and create a duplicate upgrade which you can then supplement with extra functions. But as described above several times, it's simpler to take a pre-existing upgrade and modify/use it as these upgrades are one of the likely sources for these additional functions that are not built-in to the resident setup codes.aevans0001 wrote: get all the button codes out of the remote
You seem to be resisting the advice that we are providing you - which is of course your choice - but the bottom line is, you wish to REPLACE the built-in setup code with a Device Upgrade for one or more devices. You seem trapped in the concept of "editing" the built-in setup code. It's immaterial WHERE you get the information from to build this "edited" replacement upgrade. The hard way is to painstakingly learn and decode each function. The faster way is to use any of the multiple pre-existing device upgrades for these setup codes, as the end result will be the same - a Device Upgrade tailored as you desire for uploading to your remote.
Your choice.

Re: URC-9910
It appears that you knew the correct answer from the beginning , based on the quote below, but you decided that the only option that you wanted to persue was editing the built in code, which cannot be done.

There are numerous Dish network upgrades on the files site. As far as I know, Dish uses the same commands for ALL of the Dish network receivers.
As mentioned before, if you are satisfied with the features of most of the buttons, you could use keymoves from within IR or from the keypad to move around the keys and functions that you want. The Dish upgrades in the files section will give you the function values (use EFC's) that you would need to put the keymoves in.
It takes a bit of patience and you will learn as you go along. But this stuff is not that hard, take it one step at a time, define a single keymove to see how to do that, and then move on to more complex stuff.

this JP1 stuff is a sickness!
