problem KM-RM

Post by lucindrea »

ok ..
i currently only have RM as open office does not work with KM

i programed 90% of my tivo -2 buttons into my rs15-2104 , but i have run out of memory for learned codes.

now i can fire up the ir program , download all the stuff off the remote ( usb ) and see all the hex codes etc. ... i have the tivo rm file and i have loaded it up into the rm program .. then i spent some time setting up everything like i wanted it , copied the block into the ir.exe program , set up a device and uploaded it to my remote.

here is where it gives me problems.

nothing i get from remotemaster seems to work when i move it to ir.exe .. it's their and it looks like it is all setup ( even the hex codeds match for the correct button ) , but once on the remote , it doesnt work.

i'm really starting to think their is a protacal problem , but i'm stuck at how to figure it out.

if anyone is willing to look at my files let me know and i'll stick em somewhere.

Did you remember to delete the learned signal (or use a different device mode) to the learned signals don't interfere with testing the upgrade?

That's why we have a diagnosis area

Be sure to post the URL for your file(s) back to the thread after you put them there.

It sounds like we would need three files to diagnose what went wrong:
1) A .ir file containg the learned signals.
2) A .ir file matching what you uploaded to the remote to test the upgrade.
3) A .rmdu file containing the upgrade.

(I prefer a .zip containing related files. But seperate URLs is also OK. Don't use archiving/compression format other than .zip. Many experts here only have programs to support .zip).

In the Output panel of RM it says

Upgrade Protocol Code *** REQUIRED ***

in red. That means you need to install the protocol upgrade as well as the device upgrade. You didn't.

In the Tivo.rmdu file, there is no Device or Sub-Device specified. The learned signals in good now - sound and tivo - rs.ir show Dev=133 and Sub-Dev=48.

The Device and subdevice codes are part of the device upgrade. If you haven't already you just need to copy the device upgrade from RM into IR again. You don't need to set it in IR.

Lucindrea, are you saying nothing works?
I see one small discrepancy - on the keymoves tab in IR, there are keymoves for VCR/0618. Three of those are one byte long, two, from RM, are 2-byte long as they should be. Whether any of the other stuff is correct I can't tell as I don't have TiVo.

Sorry. I don't know what I did wrong in IR.exe while checking your file the first time. But I rechecked and you're right.

Now it looks to me like the protocols.ini entry for "TiVo (Official 2-byte)" must be wrong. I expect most people use one of the other TiVo choices. Try that.

I'll try to find time later to check/correct the "TiVo (Official 2-byte)" entry in protocols.ini
