Skip on Motorola DCT 6412
Has anyone come up with a way to implement a timed skip on the Motorola DCT6412 DVR?
Just a note that the 30-second skip may not work on all systems. It does NOT work with the Microsoft software used by Comcast in Washington state. In other areas, it tends to come and go depending on firmware updates.
A good link with Motorola DVR remote information (the Comcast silver remote is made by UEI/OneForAll):

Not only is the comcast remote made by UIE, depending on the model it's either JP1.1 or JP1.2 and it nicely configurable. I just wish it could be made to handle more than 3 devices.

I have been trying (unsuccessfully) for a couple of days to implement a 3 minute skip using 6 FF (30 sec skip) and the Pause Protocol. I have uploaded my IR File axelnew8910
Rob: will you please take a look at this.
Thanks

Your macro executes the following:
FFwd
EFC 011 from your VCR/1493 device upgrade (not a "Pause")
FFwd again
EFC 011 again
and repeats this a few times.
I don't know what EFC 011 does, but at the end of the sequence, I would expect your CBL device to be Fast-Forwarding.
I think you are mixing up 2 separate things:
If that function does not work on your unit, then you can create a macro to emulate that behaviour. I don't know anything about your unit's FFwd speeds, but typically, this involves three distinct steps:
(1) a "FFwd" command (or several, if perhaps 1 press of FFwd gives you 2x speed and 3 presses gives you 12x speed),
(2) a pause command to allow the PVR to advance a bit, and then
(3) a "Play" command to stop the fast-forwarding.
Your step (2) is not executing a Pause (see below), and you have no step (3).
In your IR file, I see NO Pause functions created. The Keymoves for a Pause should be built on the Special Functions page, and utilise the Pause device (TV/1104). What you have done on the Keymoves page is assign some unknown (and immaterial in this case) EFCs from the VCR/1493 device to Phantom 1 and Phantom 2 and called them Pauses.
I recommend building the Pause Keymoves in KM (the Protocol Help sheet explains how to do this) and import those keymoves from KM. Then build a macro calling on those Pauses as I describe above.
You will have to tweak the duration of the Pause to get the total time that is Fast-Forwarded through calibrated to whatever interval you desire (30 secs, 1 min, 5 min, whatever). Remember that the "Pause" time is not the time interval you want to advance your PVR. It is the time you want to elapse between executing the FFwd function and executing the Play function - usually between 1-5 secs.

This is not a macro. This is a straight EFC that (if it works for your unit) could/should be assigned via Keymove to whatever button you want. If it works properly, it will cause whatever is playing on your DVR to skip ahead 30 secs. (I note that in your CBL device (VCR/1493) you have this EFC assigned to the left arrow. If your upgrade is based on CBL/0476 - as it appears to be - then have you tested to see if this EFC works as a 30-sec. skip?)Dilligaf wrote:Cbl 0476 efc 0049 is 30 second skip forward.

Capn:
It is obvious that I have been misinterpreting something in the KM Special Protocol help. I have been using RM for a while, and have to reorient to the KM format again.
In brief answer to some of your analysis. Protocol for the cable box (1493) is based on 0476. Downloaded it from the File Area (upgrades). 30 sec skip works fine. I just have to start with a clean sheet and see if it all comes together.
The efc 011 thing was the 1 sec pause from the pause protocol instructions that I misinterpreted..
I will get back to this later today. Just woke up (almost).
Thanks again
Elliot
