Punch Through keys other than volume

Post by jwcldwll »

Im working with a 15-2116 and running out of memory. Im wondering if I can make another key "Punch through" like the volume keys do- and if so, How?
Thanks.

If you look on the General settings panel on the right there are options for what sets of buttons punch through on the home theater (My System) button. Not sure of ways to do it on other device buttons short of installing the extender which gives you all sorts of control over active button groups.

What memory are you running out of? There are three "areas" of memory: Learning; Upgrade; and Keymove/Macro.

If you are running out of Learning Memory, then you can convert some of your learned keys into the likely NOT-fullly utilised Upgrade Memory using JP1 tools.

If you are running out of Keymove/Macro memory, then you still may benefit from converting some of your Keymoves into upgrades, OR you may be a candidate for the extender, which converts most of your Learning Memory into Keymove/Macro memory.

If you are running out of Upgrade Memory .... WOW! You must have a LOT of upgrades!

I do have quite a few upgrades but the memory Im short of is Learning. Since I use the same keys on 6 different devices for the same TV functions (stepping thru inputs and format selection) I thought I could save some memory and some time by using Punch through instead of learning.

Do you have a cable? If so, upload your IR file to the diagnosis area and post a link to it here, and someone will have a look to see what can be done.

Even without a cable, if you provide the info about the setup codes you are using, what setup code works your TV (and it's brand and model) and what specific functions you are using learning for, someone is likely to be able to help you determine what Keymoves you could use to substitute the functions you have learned.

The simplest way would be to provide the info required by the template in the Code Search section first sticky post.

Ok- I guess the answer is no- other keys can't punchthrough. I can spread the load with a few keymoves and be ok. Thanks for the replies which were helpful.
