Olevia 327v LCD TV and URC-1067 comcast remote
hello all,
I recently purchased this tv (olevia 327v) for my mother and i read that there is a way to hook up the remote to the computer and have it work. there are no codes that work for this tv on the comcast remote i have (urc 1067).
I bought the jp1.2 cable already and hooked it up to the remote and plugged it into my computer but i dont get any pop up saying something was plugged in...how do i access the files on the remote?
I need to be able to access the remote and i need a file that will allow this tv to work with the remote.
The company i bought this tv from does not take refunds and this has been a horrible experience overall for me, any help would be tremendously appreciated.
I am totally new to this so please be understanding. thanks again

ok so i downloaded and installed IR620. I plugged in my remote and then i clicked download from remote and it says "no power either there are no batteries or its not connected right"
the batteries in the remote ARE working, and the connection into the serial port is secure. I made sure i had serial selected as the interface....what am i doing wrong?

Make sure that the JP1.2 cable is on COM1 or COM2 and/or before any modem that may be on the system. A modem found at a lower COM port number than the interface is on will make the tester think it found the interface and will make IR stop looking before it ever gets to the interface. Almost ideal would be to make sure that there are no other serial devices connected at all if it's not working.
I fought with that for over a week before I figured out what was happening.

You don't have an internal modem or such? A modem would supply a serial port as well. Make sure to get the debugging version of the tester and watch the output. I found that it was telling me it could not open the COM port I had the interface on, and it was opening my modem and thinking it was a JP1.x remote (for some reason the tester can think it found a remote if it finds ANY com port that gives a response back).
IR of course needs to proper response. Also make sure you don't have the cable plugged into the remote backwards. On my cable (bought from diyremote) the cable goes towards the bottom of the remote. Just make sure along with everything else you try with the remote hooked up both ways before you give up, and while I have not seen the problem with having to exit IR if the check fails once with b3 like b2 did, it's a good idea to exit IR and restart it between failed checks.

i have the cable hooked up to the remote as you described and my network card is built onto my motherboard, its not a seperate pci-card device.
I dont know wat the problem could be
ive been trying all day to get this to work, ive read other threads about similar problems but no one has this redundant problem i have.

From my experience the message you have gotten there is a fail message that the tester doesn't catch. When it actually finds the remote it gives an output like so:
C:\Save>tester

The message about getting something other than ACK! usually means it found an internal modem or such. I would not be surprised if you have an internal modem that is on COM1 and that the interface is actually connected to COM2. This configuration in my experience will not work, as IR and tester will both stop looking for the remote on the first device that responds to it. Check in device manager, and if you find a modem listed and are not using it, then try disabling it.

it is still not working. Does anyone think the problem might be with the wire? Ive tried uninstalling my serial port and reinstalling it. Ive tried using a usb->serial adapter, and nothing is working. All I ever get is "Failed to open JP1.2 Interface"
I am about to give up, i have no clue wat is wrong. Everything should work. the only lead is the "Got 00 instead of an ACK" but if another program is using my com1 port i have no idea how to check that. According to device manager the com1 port is functioning normally.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
