A problen with Java, and Remote Master.

Post by oejones »

I am just getting started with remote master programmer, and I'm having a problem with getting the programmer to work with the Java programs. I downloaded the Remote Master zip, and unzipped it into E:\Remote Master\Remote Master v137 directory. Then I downloaded the RDM files into the E:\Remote Master\RDM directory, and unzipped them. Next, I downloaded the Java files into C:\Java-RTE (Java SE) directory.
When I get ready to run the Remote Master.jar file, it starts the program with an error message, Remote Load Error, with about 25 listings below all saying that there has been a problem finding, etc. necessary Java files. At the bottom of the page it has an O. K. box, and when I hit that key, the Remote Master program comes up.
My question is how do I need to set up my directories and Drives to connect my Remote Master program to the Java application, and to the RDM files.
I am also wondering what this "slingbox" program is all about. That is the only thing that I can get to come up in the "Remote" box.
Here is that path structure again:

E:\Remote Master\Remote Master v137
E:\Remote Master\RDM
C:\Java

Did you install the Java package after downloading it?

It sounds to me like you missed the "Maps and Images" download. If you missed those you get a big gray list of errors and remote master doesn't run.

v137? typo?

RDM? typo? do you mean RDF?

Did you run the batch file (setup.bat)?

The structure of the RDF directory is a bit difficult because of the Slingbox for historical reasons. Be that as it may, instead of pointing RM or IR at the top level, just navigate one level deeper into the RDF directory where all the remotes are listed.

And yes, don't forget the maps and images to also go into the RM directory. I routinely forget :(
