I watched an episode of "Ugly Betty" for the first time (and last time) today, which was called "Fey's Sleigh Ride" that featured a cameo performance by a URC-8910. Well, actually when I caught a glimpse of where the logo should be, it wasn't the normal OFA logo, so I think it might have actually been an "HT Pro". The remote gets quite a bit of screen time in the scene.
You can watch the episode online at abc.com, fast forward to about the 15 minute mark.

You say that you watched it for the first and last time. It's just about to air in the UK. Do you recommend giving it a swerve, then? |

Hey, no fair!
ABC doesn't allow me to watch the episodes on-line from the UK!
But although I can't make out the logo, the colors appear to be closer to the 8910/9910 matte silver top/llight grey bottom than the darker-colored HTPro. _________________ Beginners - Read this thread first

I'm just not a sitcom kinda guy, so it didn't do much for me, but I'm probably not the best person to ask. I prefer the more serious serial kinda shows, like 24, Prison Break, Day Break, Vanished and The Nine (and yes, the last three shows on that list have been cancelled already).

Don't feel bad, they don't let Canadians watch it either!

I wasn't able to freeze the online show at exactly the right point, but I was able to freeze it on my ReplayTV. If there was a regular OFA logo at the bottom of the remote, there would have been some red showing (for the red "O") but this logo appeared to have thinker lettering and it appeared all black. Of course, the props department could simply have covered up the OFA logo so as not to give away any free advertizing. _________________ Rob

| Well, the BBC won't let me watch Torchwood Declassified!
Friends of friends in far places have gotten me the episodes but the BBC cut off access this year for the extras. I tried a proxy server but the unbelievably slow response is a killer.
I also have a friend with Canadian satellite service so I've seen shows like "Charlie Jade" and the "Collector" that aren't available in the USA either. _________________ Just call me Zaphod (or Steve) --- I never should have started using numbers in a screen name but I just can't stop now. |

I really cannot complain. Sky has LOTS of American programming - granted lots of the stuff is pretty late (Lost's current Season is the only one of the biggies that has already begun this year. The current seasons of Smallville, Desperate Housewives, and Heroes, to name a few others on various networks here, begin airing the current "new" season in mid-January (They do this to avoid the various interruptions for sports, holiday specials, sweeps weeks, etc, that invariably draw out US airings of a 22-episode series into almost 40 weeks and by the last episode they are usually only about 2-3 weeks behind the US).
Also, I have the advantage of access to AFN. I probably get more sports variety than you guys (unless you have one of the pricey super-sports packages on a Cable or Satellite) - as on Sundays I have a choice of three NFL games at 1 eastern and another 3 at 4 eastern, plus two each on Sky Sports, plus every prime-time game, plus College football till you puke! _________________ Beginners - Read this thread first

And what a disappointment Lost has been so far, I've watched every episode since it started and I wouldn't shed a tear if it were to be cancelled. They've posed about a million questions so far and answered about 3. At least with a show like 24 they answer old questions while they pose new ones. _________________ Rob

Hm... I guess this is no different than me spotting a Commodore Vic-20 in the doctor's office on the show Empty Nest. |

I saw the URC-8910 on the coffee table of Paula Deen on an episode of her show on Food Network in the US (I think it's called Paula's Home Cooking). Sorry, I don't have any images |
