If you already have a working setup code or upgrade, but are looking for discrete codes (for power, inputs, etc), please post here.

Sony Discrete ON/OFF with RS 2117 using Extender2...

Post by Chuck_IV »

I cannot, for the life of me, get discrete ON/OFF programmed for my Sony 635 receiver, using extender2. I am using RCVR code 1158 on the AUX, to control the receiver, with out issue, but I want to make it so Power turns the power on ONLY, and shift-power to turn the power off ONLY.

I have a learned code that works, when not using the extender. It is:

Protocol: Sony12
Device: 16
OBC: 46 for On 47 for OFF
Hex 74 or 75 for On and F4 or F5 for OFF

Now, based on what I have read, based on the Sony12 and device 16, it is using the hex 74 for ON and F4 for OFF. So I figured I would use a keymove command to get this done with extender2. So my key moves went like this:

AUX Power = AUX RCVR 1158 $74
AUX Shift-Power = AUX RCVR 1158 $F4

When I use this, nothing happens. The power does not go on/off. I tried the hex 75 and F5 for on/off, and that didn't work.

All I am looking to do is get a discrete code for ON to the power button and Off to the shift power of the AUX(receiver) buttons.

What do I need to do, to do this? Am I using the wrong code for 1158?

Thanx.

The 1158 code is a combo that uses 2-byte commands. Based on your info, try these Hex Cmds for the Key Moves:

On: 74 08
Off: F4 08

OMG! I can't believe I didn't try that. Thank You! All my other key moves ended with that same 08, why the heck didn't I add that here

I ended up getting it working using keymap-master to create an upgrade file, but the 08 method is a heck of a lot easier.

Oh well, my forehead is a bit flatter from smashing it against the wall, but, hey it works now :D

Thanx again.

BTW, I noticed you're in CT too... enjoying the snow?

I wouldn't use the word enjoying... especially since it's going to change over to rain soon. Ought to make a nice mess!

Yea, it's gonna be ugly later, when it starts raining.

I have 2 more keys I am having issues with. They are 2 learned keys from my Hughes HTL-HD Directv receiver. This receiver is fairly new. I am using setup code 1749.

The keys show as follows:

Protocol: NEC1
Device: 12
Sub-Device: 251
OBC: 47
Hex: 0B
EFC: 090

and

Protocol: NEC1
Device: 12
Sub-Device: 251
OBC: 49
Hex: 73
EFC: 153

I've tried just the 0B abd 73 codes in key movers but nothing.

Thanx for the help.

It must be something basic. Those should work. Did you try just using the EFC's?

Yea, I tried it both ways. I dunno. It doesn't want to work and to top it off the first one, 090 locks the remote, to the point, I have to remove the batteries.

Yep, it was something stupid. I was choosing CBL as the device(since I was using the CBL key to control by 2nd satellite receiver), BUT this is a satellite receiver, so I should have used the SAT device, which did work. again.
